Habitat Animals that are included in a zoo time for the first time with Planet Zoo

I'm wondering how many habitat animals are making their "zoo game debut" with Planet Zoo. Meaning they haven't been in any other zoo game before. I haven't played them all, but the ones I know of are Zoo Tycoon 1 and 2, Zoo Tycoon 2013, Wildlife Park 1, 2, and 3, Zoo Constructor, Let's Build A Zoo, Zoo Empire, and Zoo Keeper.

There's also several "tap and wait - free to play but tons of paywall animals" that are pretty much static and the game needs minimal interaction, just to level up. I'm not included those type of games here because the nature of the games is totally different than the Base game/DLC type of games. Also because something like My Free Zoo has over 500 animals and there's really nothing going on with them.

Also not including standard exhibit animals because I don't think there's ever been a system in another game to incorporate that, so of course most of these types of animals will not have been included before.

So of the more standard type of zoo game animals....what habitat animals are new to the genre?

Proboscis Monkey? Not sure though, I only played Zoo Tycoon 2 before Planet Zoo, Zoo Tycoon 1 is too old and Zoo Tycoon 3 is a very bad and boring game.

Lol I spent like a full day grinding zoo Tycoon 3 cause it was on xbox game pass then never played it again. If it had one thing though, it's variety. I'm pretty sure no other zoo game has all 3 species of wombat.

Yeah but it had the most twisted version of animal variety ive seen so far :D
Like 7 jaguars but no zebra or panda?

Zoo Tycoon3 had the worst roster in animal history, like 20 species of some animals and NONE of others... I never want to see such "variety" again in my life, the game probably has all types of Leopards though, so the Leopard addicts liked the game probably.

I actually liked the variety in Zoo Tycoon 2013. That said, it was enormously lacking in other areas.

A perfect world would be one where we have Planet Zoo's roster with Zoo Tycoon 2013's variety. For example, instead of having a 'grizzly bear' and a 'Himalayan brown bear', we'd have a 'brown bear' that would provide a bunch of different subspecies options since they're all relatively similar anyway.

I might be wrong about few. For DLCs.
Arctic: nothing - counting arctic wolf as species
SA: nothing
Australia: nothing
Aquatic: Giant Otter, Gray Seal, Dwarf Caiman
SEA: Dhole, Babirusa, Proboscis Monkey
Africa: African Penguin
NA: Prairie Dog
Europe: Badger, Fallow Deer
Wetlands: Asian Otter, Crane, Water Buffalo, Nile Lechwe
Conservation: Siamang
Twilight: Red Fox, Skunk
Grasslands: Wallaby
Tropical: Asian Water Monitor, Lar Gibbon

So around 20 animals from DLCs.
I think number for base game will be even smaller, because frontier reused animals from their first zoo game. From newcomers we have:
  • Springbok
  • Black Wildebeest
  • Aldabra Giant Tortoise
  • Gharial
  • Chinese Pangolin
  • Japanes Macaque
Base game have 6 new species for genre.

Compared exclusively to the entire Zoo Tycoon franchise's roster, here's what I came up with (Correct me if I'm wrong):

Base Game: Aldabra Tortoise, Bactrian Camel, Chinese Pangolin, Gharial, Japanese Macaque, Red Deer, Springbok
Deluxe: None
Arctic: Dall Sheep
South America:
Australia: Dingo, Southern Cassowary
Aquatic: Giant Otter, Grey Seal
Southeast Asia: Binturong, Dhole, North Sulawesi Babirusa, Proboscis Monkey
Africa: African Penguin
North America: American Alligator, Arctic Fox, Black-Tailed Prairie Dog (though the first ZT game came close with the Prairie Dog Café building),
Europe: European Badger, European Fallow Deer
Wetlands: Asian Small-Clawed Otter, Nile Lechwe, Red Crowned Crane, Wild Water Buffalo
Conservation: Amur Leopard, Siamang
Twilight: Raccoon, Red Fox, Striped Skunk
Grasslands: Emu, Maned Wolf, Red-Necked Wallaby
Tropical: Asian Water Monitor, Red River Hog

Close enough:
  • Instead of the White-Faced Capuchin, the Xbox version had other capuchins.
  • Instead of Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman, the Xbox version had other caimans.
  • Instead of Eurasian Lynx, ZT2 had Spanish Lynx
  • Instead of King Penguin, ZT1 and ZT2 had Emperor Penguin
  • Instead of Lar Gibbon, ZT2 had Crested Gibbon

Some subspecies were grouped together into just one, such as:
  • Black Wildebeest and Blue Wildebeest were just Wildebeest
  • Bornean Orangutan was just Orangutan

No offence, but this is a very Conflicting List. Including Animals from same Species in the Main List, while including Different Species in the "Close Enough" List.

Dingo and Amur Leopard for instance are the Same Species as Animals that existed in Previous Games, just different Subspecies. While all 5 "Close Enough" Species are Distinct Species on their own. Some are even new Genera. Like Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman is more Different than what Dall Sheep is to Bighorn Sheep.

Sry, I cannot hold on myself 😃. Both wildebeests are different species as well as different Orang-Utans are different species and no subspecies (subspecies of our Game would be our 2 Tigers, 2 Brown Bears or 3 Wolfs). But nevertheless thanks for making the list 🙂

Here's a detailed post, at least regarding zoo tycoon:

Friends, let's update this topic based on the New Pack. Some of you are more knowledgeable than me on old game Rosters, so I'll leave it to you.
