Habitat Help

I want to venture more into habitats that look more natural instead of just putting a wall around.
I’m just curious on two things -

1) Can someone explain the no barrier habitat?
And
2) Is there a list of items or props that can act as a stop for animals to get out of a habitat if I try use the no barrier option? Will a turtle be able to get past a rock for a log for example?

I understand that most animals will be able to jump etc but I’m wondering if anyone out there has compiled their own research through trial and error.

The Null Barrier works like a marker, sp that the game knows the boundaries of your enclosure, but there is actually no obstacle.

The bigger rocks and bushes are great to keep your animals inside your "no fence enclosure". You can always look at the heatmap to see where your animals can escape.

Null Barriers are useful.

Below is my large Savannah habitat. I have a walkway over the habitat. The walkway starts with a rise up to a rocky outcrop.

I don't want the barrier to go right through the walkway or around the walkway, that wouldn't look right. So I build the barrier either side of the walkway, using the rock as a natural barrier.

And then the Null Barrier joins up the Visible Barrier and goes through the walkway, completing the Habitat fence.

That is amazingly helpful, thank you! And the examples look amazing.

So height and rocks are the only things that stop animals escaping?

What about a null barrier and a wall from the construction menu? Would that stop them? Then again, I could use a wall and just put construction walls over it?

The walls from the construction menu can also stop them (just make sure it's high enough for the animal).
You can also use water for some animals like the monkeys/apes.

Brilliant! And obviously habitat barriers have different characteristics such as waterproof, or climbable. What are these construction walls classed as? Do they do either?

You must be careful when using scenery items as barriers because some of them are climbable. You can look at the tags to see which ones can be climbed.
