Habitat Space Requirements question?

I find myself going to Planet Zoopedia all the time to plan out what size I need to make a habit for the type and numbers of animals I'm going to put into it, but I was wondering if anyone knows that the actual "formulaes" are for calculating it?

I mean...I don't even see the point of the in-game zoo-pedia having the information in it when it's only showing you what 1 animal needs and doesn't tell you how to calculate out when it's more than one, or even more than one type.

Sorry if this has been asked before...My search failed but I wasn't sure what search terms to even use because there's a lot of different language I could use to ask this question. Thus...I got a ton of results that had nothing to do with this specific thing.

This website shows the formulas AND includes a tool to calculate how big enclosures need to be for a certain number of animals.
Holy crud! I use the habitat planner on that site allll the time and never even noticed it had the information for the calculations in the zoopedia section.

I was hoping there was some set of formulaes one could memorize rather than having to look the information up all the time though. I'm quite good at math so it's just faster for me if I know a formula. Looks like it is so different for each animal there's no common set of 2 or 3 formulaes I could just memorize though. Ah well, have to keep doing it the slow way I gues. But thank you for the info about where to look for the raw numbers, and thank you for the same @MrTux

Honestly...now I wish that the in game zoopedia had the info that is on the wiki and Planet Zoopedia page. That's really all I'd need...is to have that info IN GAME. Can't believe the oversight.

LOL oh my, no wonder all our animals are always SUPER happy with space even when they get (to me) crowded. We (spouse and I) assumed that the amount of space listed in-game was per animal (not just for the first animal), and just would multiply it by the max # animals possible "plus some" to allow babies space to grow up. So apparently the enclosures we've been making are just ridiculously oversized.

You have to check the planet zoopedia website, though. I was working on some habitat, I think my new macaques, and the website gave a habitat size that was too small.

Hahah, I did the same thing when I first started! I noticed pretty quickly just how oversized that was making things looking at the Terrain tab of the animals though so went online to research how to figure out space requirements. Didn't find my answer back then either, but I did find the Planet Zoopedia Habitat Planner website link which I've been using ever since. Nice thing about the planner, at least imo, is it tells you ahead of time the terrain requirements (% of each type) even so you can do that ahead of time as well, especially useful for multi-species habitats.

That is not wrong. I do that all the time. The only ones complaining are the guests, not me and not the elephants.:)

The size the website gives you does not account for any structures, foliage, rocks, or anything else in the habitat that takes up space. It is specifically navigable space, meaning that you need to go a good bit beyond when you are planning out the sq footage of the border.

Sorry for necro'ing this topic, but since this topic is still a high search result on google, I just wanted to add that I've created another website to help you plan your habitats:
