Hacker Solution

Oh yes:

"A character controlled by a hacker who used exploits to dominate online game Guild Wars 2 has been put to death in the virtual world.

The character, called DarkSide, was stripped then forced to leap to their death from a high bridge.

The death sentence was carried out after players gathered evidence about the trouble the hacker had caused.
This helped the game's security staff find the player, take over their account and kill them off."

Come on FD....see the light.

That´s nice and public punishment for blatant exploiting is indeed a good thing, but GW2 devs and mods are just treating symptoms here. Real culprit is their crappy client software, that allows stuff like speedhacking in a game despite it having a server based netcode. It´s literally causing people extra work because the game was not developed properly in the first place.

Basically if you let client software to control anything = it will be exploited.

would this not make some hackers wanna do it more? I mean that way you get famous or infamous. But even bad publicity is publicity

It depends, it could be used as a deterrent against those who would hack, even if it gets notoriety for the individual.
