Hello all,
I wanted to get my pew-pew on and get some mileage out of the new huge MC I mounted on my FDL and also test the new AI. I saw the CG for bounty hunting, thought it would be perfect for some hi res or haz res shenanigans. When I got to the CG station I noticed 6-7 CMDRs there also, so I asked in local chat if anyone wanted to wing up and go to a haz res. Two guys said yes, another FDL and a FAS. Perfect.
We played around in the haz res for about two hours, only needing to take a break once to clear the annoying 10 minute bounties you get when an Eagle decides to fly in front of your beam lasers. We were definitely more challenged than the old AI and it was a good time using teamwork to take down the difficult opponents. My creds per hour were way better than doing the haz res solo, as our frequency of having to repair was much lower.
Unfortunately, we had to stop due to the increasing frequency of instancing bugs. One guy quit for the night because the station wouldn't show up on his contacts list even though he was looking right at it. He tried low waking out and back, no help. Then he restarted the game, still no way to request landing permission. Another bug that plagued us all at one time or another was invisible ships, a ship would be on my wingmates screen but not on mine so to me it looked like he was having a firefight with empty space. There were other annoyances, like materials not disappearing when they reached 0% so it would clutter our radars and we would have to reset the instance from time to time to clear them. The 'target hostile' button loves to target HE dumbfire missiles rather than the ship who is shooting me. One last bug was an NPC whose name was [] who never showed up on my radar but would always show up in local chat saying the pirate sayings like "Let's see what you are carrying." This NPC showed up in every instance.
Even with all the bugs, it was fun to work with other random CMDRs in open doing a CG. One of the best times I have had in 2.1. The first hour we were doing it it wasn't so buggy, and then in the second hour the bugs got worse and worse, along with some rubberbanding. Perhaps the servers were overloaded. Still, I had a good time and turned in about 1.2 million creds toward the CG.
