Had Just About Enough....

Can we get a reduction in the number of/spawn rate of Convoy Beacon signal sources? It seems like 3 out 4 USS in the bubble are Convoy Beacons, and since it's rare that even one ship in a convoy is wanted, these things are completely useless. They're not even that interesting to wake scan and follow. About an 80% reduction in the number of these should do nicely.

If your frustration about that is anywhere close to my frustration with the amount of Mission Critical Message spam that passenger missions produce, then I am with you.

It seems that some useless things in this game get an undue amount of frequency while other more useful things do not have much frequency at all.

Heh, last night as I was getting into orbit from lifting off I got a "Mission Critical Signal Source Detected"... No USS was nearby and I had no missions.

But yes, Convoy Beacons are a pain. I normally don't find these in deep space but last night I found one 5,000 ls from the sun...

I could live without the Passenger Disembarked messages, and of course, my absolute least favorite thing - rapid, multi-scanning NPC's whenever you're trying to move a Secretive passenger so they insta-eject. Having them scan you and degrade your passenger's happiness is bad enough, but it seems like they use every scanner available, all at once, to drive them out the airlock. Personally, I'd just as soon be able to forbid personal scanner detectors on my ship, under penalty of being sold into slavery if found.

Slavery. Heh. :D It seems like slavery offers and alternate destinations are half the spam that comes along with passenger missions. The secretive passengers are not really a bother to me but then again I won't take them to a planetary base since there is really nowhere to run away from the scan unless I want to plant my Black Limo in the surface dust. In space my Orca is fast enough to outrun the scan ala Robigo style.

I have not been USS hunting in a while but I hear tell that they seem to be borked lately too. Luckily I don't need to engineer any ships right now so hunting mats is a non issue for me.

Most things are good for me in the game but a few things are a little nitpicky annoying. Fortunately my ignore-the-nitpicky skills are seasoned from being married once upon a time. LOL

So true re: passenger missions. Why the hell do I need a message to tell me my passenger disembarked when I complete a mission? I don't get one saying 'data delivered successfully' when I complete a courier mission, nor do I need it. I know the passenger disembarked because I handed in the mission and got paid.

I love all the mission critical messages for missions that don't pay squat.

These are as bad as the phone solicitors that robot call everyone. Wait, maybe they are the same companies, only in the future, now I understand.

Where's the block button on my comms, I swear I saw one...

Well, while they're at it, a decrease in courier missions and a couple more transport missions wouldn't be a bad thing either.
Last couple weeks the boards are filled with an overabundance of courier missions.

Hmmmm. I usually see some, but not an overwhelming amount. OP could it be your location? The sources do have their spawn rate altered by system state, location within the system etc.

How about all the TRADE BEACONS that get thrown up as "Mission Critical" even if you ignore these mission offers in your in-box?

Really annoying when you are trying to track down the TARGET USS for an Assassination Mission or something, and these stupid things keep popping up instead!

I don't have any problems getting these folks to planetary bases - heat sinks are amazing things. It's when someone's following me and opts to follow me to a tourist beacon and scan-spam me while trying to scan the beacon. Heat sinks only help a little here, silent running does not, or does not for long enough. Jumping out and back in just makes them do the same, and they seem to complete those fatal scans faster.

Shhh! Don't give them any ideas!

How about the Mission Critical ones that contain some debris, a black box or two, and you have no missions at all - but someone wants these, and failed to tell you they did?

They were added because a bunch of <redacted> in this very forum complained bitterly that they weren't told when passengers disembarked, so FD added the messages. I remember at the time saying it was madness and would be spam. Hopefully some of them will be along to justify themselves.

"Hey, we know you took on this mission to bring 20 refugees to this system you just jumped to for 5 million credits, but before you dock at the station in front of you, we will give you 5000 credits on top if you bring the refugees to that other system over there." :)

Also, that Filter Messages thing for the inbox never worked for me since it was introduced. Was it Update 2.3?

Yes, since I became interested in certain engineering items I have noticed an awful lot of these.

Why are there so many of these "convoys" just hanging around in deep space.

Actually you do see less of them if you hang around 75 - 100 Kly from the star, where some say you get a better chance of HGE's.

Are you in a shipping lane instead of being in deep space?
Do you know what the difference is between the two?

I'm not, and I do.

I just seem to find an inordinate amount of these, compared to anything else. And it's not just one or even a few systems, it's most of the time. Sad when I get excited to find a Degraded Emissions just because it's not a convoy signal. But good times when I find these in an Anarchy system....

ah, but do you know

One wonders why these convoys are trolling around in normal space.
