Had my first time last night

Good to know you have left your mark!

The next thing on the list to die from, is accidentally hitting Silent Running and wondering why you are getting fried! Ohh and don't forget about boosting inside asteroid fields. Playing chicken with an asteroid can only end one way:)

Welcome to the club!
After my first time I moved the key for landing gear in the upstair room, in a dedicated keyboard.....so I'm sure not to miss the right key :D :D :D

Congratulations, you are now in "The hall of fame" :D

Into the Hall of Fame
Through the Hall of Fame
Into the Galley
Through the Galley
Into the Crews Quarters
And finally at rest in the Insurance screen

Good effort :-]

Did you manage the mad panic 4 pips to shields in that frantic 1000 milliseconds?

Well my first time was similar, but with an asteroid. Tried to select fragments, was still used to target with TAB key from other games, and boom... had a good laugh about it and a funny story to tell :)

I think that should be "It's never happened to me yet..." with intentional emphasis on yet. It will happen, some day, maybe tomorrow, you will join us....

;)

That isn't what I meant, but never mind, it wouldn't work if I explained it. And I'd probably get an infraction. ;)

Did it once in an Anaconda full of palladium. I cried, stamped my feet, wiped my eyes, threw all my toys out of the pram then thanked everything I ever believed in I had enough for the insurance on the 'Conda. Shame about the palladium though.

Welcome to the club lol.

It happened to me several times, but I luckily never died. The first time it was in an Eagle, but I had 4 pips in SYS which was enough to absorb most of the damage.
The last time, a few days ago, I was in a Vulture and managed to put 4 pips in SYS before hitting the wall (I had 0 pips in SYS when I hit the boost -_-. my landing routine is getting sloppy). Luckily the shield didn't go down (class 5 shield, with one C and two E boosters)

:p I'm not sure if I've done it or not. About a week ago I hit boost instead of deploy gear coming into a station through the mail slot... but I managed to save the situation in time. I was in my Clipper and I really thought I was doomed. But a combination of slamming throttle in revervse, firing off lateral thrusters, and executing a very tight turn, meant that I came to a halt about a small platform's length away from the back wall. :D

Lucky escape, that one. I was distracted and tired at the time when the incident occurred. I now pay closer attention to docking when tired. :p

Not too long ago I was boosting *out* of a station, then immediately realised I wasn't lined up with the slot. A quick stab of the shield pips control, then I slammed into the side of the slot and bounced into the toast rack with a horrible grinding metal sound. A few seconds of that, and... my god! I'm not dead!

I used to regularly stop my ship on docking by crashing into the control towers by each docking pad. I hope Frontier add crew inside the towers who flinch when you do that :-D

Thank you all for the kind words.

For the record, I was in Courier and boosted when I was alredy inside the station, so only the "circle around the tower" manoeuvre was an option. Thankfully my top rated shields with top s-booster absorbed tha force of the impact nicely.

If it was Solo, I'm not sure it counts though... :p
No worries ;) While I'm note one of those exhibitionists people who do everything publicly, I stay in a group of like minded individuals.

Joining the noble list of classic pilot up's normally born from complacency.

Did head/station banging in a T7, costly mistake but you learn by them.

Now we all know we have all done it but how many of us have slammed into a Type 9 when entering or leaving a station? I have done this myself twice now but survived lol. I have also somehow managed to get my python through the slot at high speed while a type 9 was there without even touching it.
