General / Off-Topic Had to leave the ED subreddit

People are kind of fascist there. I thought reddit was about free speech. Apparently if you aren't aware of all of the crazy rules about posting a screenshotted NPC;people get really condescending and downright mean to you.

Am I allowed to post a screenshot of a Paul Walker NPC in a Vulture here?

It's not, but it wasn't the point. I couldn't find the "old men rules" in fine print and people were verbally harassing me about it and trolling and the mods were siding with them.

Give us a link to where the naughty fascists picked on you, then we can decide if we want to join in or declare you our king.

Oh yeah, Paul Walker, the actor who was killed while in a car with the driver acting like a, well I'm not going to make work for the mods! :p Seems it's ok for Hollywood types to drive like hoon's on public roads, who knew!

I hope you blew his bad acting butt to bits... like his old car! :D

stuff like this. As you can see in my OP the picture isn't funny. obviously. But people are posting like this. i'm not gonna sit here all day and post everyone of their things. Name and shame.

I just wanted to know if its okay to be myself here. Or if there is somewhere I can be myself and talk to people.

You can be yourself here or anywhere.
Whether someone chooses to take offence and respond inappropriately is unfortunately par for the internet-course.
The upshot here though is that there are at least admins around who will take action.

As opposed to the steaming cess-pool of vomit-inducing bile that is Reddit...

Seriously, why people even go near that thing is beyond my comprehension.
Maybe I'm just too old for that site and no longer part of the "cool, hip crowd". :D

i doubt you would be booted for showing that picture... but i am not sure what the point of it would be....... I mean, if it is and attempt at a joke, as in "hehehehe this guy is dead! lol", then it seems a little in bad taste and am sure people will think pretty low of you, but it takes all sorts i guess.

but if you stick around you will see we have our own selection of pretty toxic threads, so unless you are pretty thick skinned here, chances are you will get upset here too! ;)

PS welcome to the elite forums ;)

No, I know people that use reddit and they can't convince me to use it. I created an account for elite but I just stay here. When I think reddit I think 4 Chan and I think idiots that group together to do stupid things... like vote EA as worst company of the year....

The reason I was told is because a bunch of other people were posting screenshots of NPC names. Basically removed for partaking in the community.

I'm thick skinned, but I just thought it was bizarre how people were acting from taking a screenshot.

Well, reddit is about free speech ish, problem is a lot of people take free speech as the right to speak down on others, condescending and whatnot, which is unfortunate and happens a lot of places, the moment people see they have the 'freedom' to say anything they use that freedom to spew bile and create toxic environments, that said, always check sidebar for rules before posting in a sub reddit.

To be fair, the subreddit rules are linked in the sidebar, and there really aren't very many of them. The rule in question is clearly explained:

---
The following will be removed:

  • Screenshots of NPC names, station names, or funny dialog – Hundreds of these images are submitted every week, and in an effort to keep the front-page interesting and not devoid of inspiring content we have elected to remove these types of posts.
---

Unfortunately on Reddit you do tend to get a lot of snarky users who'll jump on stuff like that. It's one of the negatives of the place. Conversely, the Frontier forums don't allow *any* criticism of poster behaviour, and so there's a lot of passive-aggressiveness here. Neither place is perfect. What's really amusing is that the Reddit sub looks down on the forums for being toxic, and the forums look down on the Reddit sub for exactly the same reason!

Welcome I suspend judgement on declaring you our king until I see you pull a sword from a stone. Terry Pratchett got a memorial station in game, never heard of this walker chappie though.
