Had to stop engineering because I tested a weapon maybe 10m inside the no fire zone.

Yeh, gonna have to add my voice to this new CnP stuff.

I was engineering my new PAs at Bill's place, all was goin well, I took off, set low throttle to move a few km out, went to get a glass of water, came back, assumed I was outside the no fire zone, fired my PAs at the ground. Bam, fine for weapons discharge, at almost the exact same moment as being told I had left the no-fire zone. No more engineering for you until you find, visit and pay at, an interstellar factors, then make your way back to the engineer.

It;s not the end of the world, but it's a HUGE step backwards in terms of making the game more fun to play.

If it is a fine, rather than a bounty, you don't need to go to interstellar factors, you can just pay it off at a local starport (including, probably, the engineer base).

I think they should separate Fines from Bounties. Fines including friendly fire or weapon discharge shouldnt lock u out of starports or make u wanted. Bounties that you get by ACtually killing clean ships should do all that.

Definitely couldn't pay it off at the engineer base. Anonymous access.

You assumed that you were outside of the no fire zone after deserting your post to have a drink ? Crazy, i did just the same the other day while i was driving my 18 wheeler up the highway, left the wheel to nip back to the refridgerator to get a can of coke and now I am doing time for automotive homicide and driving recklessly. It is just so unfair that we have rules and even worse when they are applied to us.

Anonymous access (at least from fines) is not intended block access to authority contacts, there appears to be a bug going around though.

Thanks for the giggle, your analogy is ridiculous. I was not in an 18 wheeler, nor on a road, nor on earth, but thanks anyway for your totally not irrelevant contribution. :)

I was completely ready for the guys coming to say 'you were int he no fire zone, haha', I've got loads more comebacks ready for y'all, bring it. :)

I'm sure everyone in the beta forum was saying this was a bug. Surely they won't lock you out for a fine??

Did you waste a skimmer by accident? :)

I got fined by friendly fire action, i got locked out from all ports as well and had to pay it off in another system. As the others said, Im guessing its a bug

Nope. Fired my PAs at the ground, 10m inside the no fire zone. No other crimes at all. I don't commit crimes, I'm a white knight fed enforcer in the game. Got the anonymous access red warning IMMEDIATELY, where the wanted status usually is. LAnded back at the engineer, couldn't do anything. I didn't actually go to the IF, I just went to another engineer in a huff, lol, so mayb eI can pay it off at a local station after all. Point is I shouldn't have had to go anywhere just for discharging my weapons in a safe way outside the base of a close friend and colleague (good ol Bill).

Anyway, point is (aimed at everyone), that this is a step backwards in terms of gameplay fun, making extremely minor mistakes is now punished cruelly, just like the other three threads that have been raised on similar topics. It;s not like it's not already a time consuming exervise to prepare for engineering.

There is, you get a message when you leave the no fire zone. You can check the comms panel anytime to see if the message is there, if it isn't you are still in the no fire zone.

I'm aware of that, are you aware that the message decays after 5 seconds? I was getting a glass of water, so I assumed it had popped up and decayed.

I think the issue here is not the anonymous access, it's the fact that engineer bases don't have the local authority contacts (which would be accessible despite the anonymous access). Other starports in the system will have local authority contacts, which will allow a fine to be paid.

I wanted to say that, but wasn't sure from memory if they had contacts or not. If they don't they definitely should have. It';s still idiotic that I should have to go to station 2 in the same system to pay a fine I got at station 1.

Phone rang while I was landing at an Engineer yesterday, and I got a fine for pad loitering. Landed with Anonymous Access, went to the Authority Contact (only thing that was accessible), paid it, and back to business as usual in 10 seconds.

So, you most 100% certainly can pay off fines at Engineer's bases, even with Anonymous Access.

[Edit: The Engineer was Lei Cheung - I got the Pad Loitering fine because his station is on a 1.3G planet, and my ship lost altitude while I was deal with the phone call]
