Greetings all, new to the series (the original was before my time) but definitely not the genre.
I've been looking for a "multiplayer" X3 on a grand scale for ages now and it seems I've finally found home. Thoroughly enjoying myself so far and I've just scrounged together 100k for a ship of my own.
The station I'm docked at currently sells all three of my options (Hauler, Eagle and Adder). Which of those makes the best all rounder?
I ask because I'd like to trade/explore but so far I've made exactly zilch via trading and around 20k via exploration. The rest has been taking out wanted ships (NPC, obviously) and a couple of bulletin board missions. So I don't want to grab the Hauler to find I cannot locate a good trade route nearby and cant shoot my way out of a paper bag.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to where I should be heading as a newbie?
Right now I'm in Federation space fairly near the starting systems (I'm in Chimba, to be exact). Is this a worthwhile area to hang around or should I just pick a direction and go somewhere else?
Lots of questions with more to come, I'm sure!
See you out there,
Scrye
