Hailing on all frequencies!

Welp, I've gone and done it. Elite is downloading rn, and I'm pretty pumped. I've seen some vids, but I want your opinion: what on earth (or space :D ) should I do first?

In the meantime, I'll watch Netflix and open millions of wiki pages >_<

Get to know your ship and run some missions. Figure out what you want to do IE bounty hunting, trading, mining, etc. Figure out your first long term goal and go from there

watch the you tube vids on basic flight and control 1st and foremost, there are no in game tutorials that actually tell you the control maps - they actually advise you to watch the vids. next do the in game tutorials basic flight + combat - hell, you're never too experienced to learn the basics. then get flying. i found a little grind to get some extra creds - you get 100k to play with as a starting gift but don't spank it all at once. After that, upgrade - be that ship or weapons just remember the sidewinder WILL get its handed to it from most bigger ships in play, especially if you're just starting out. A good starting ship upgrade is the Adder, good cargo space for building creds and, once you upgrade the shields, thrusters and main weapons that things actually a pretty good little run around, then see what feels right. I found smuggling to be more productive financially than trading - better £££ for each run. By that stage I'm sure you'll have started to figure which path you want your space destiny to take.

Happy Cruising Commander.

P.S. Xbone or PC?

Channel 16 please, commander. ;)

The best thing you can do, beside the tutorials. Is to play for a while in Solo. Once you get the hang of Elite. Maybe a PVE group like Mobius. Then unleash yourself on the real world.

the simple thing I've done is don't spend any money, don't do any missions, don't fire any weapons and fly until your ship is destroyed. You get a replacement for free, and you haven't affected your reputation.

This lets you get the hand of going places, exploring the local systems, without committing to anything until you know what you are doing.

Smuggling is a very easy way to make your first million. I made 5 million with a Viper doing odd jobs smuggling or hunting wanted ships. Now I do boring transport making lots of money so I can afford the bigger ships "faster". There is no one best way to play the game. Its a great game because you get to choose what path you want to take to make your money. Maybe become a space pirate... We need more of those out there. The trade money is too easy haha.

Well, in 30 minutes I've had 2 interdiction attempts, done a few missions, and collected 100,000 in bounty vouchers. Seems like I've got the very basics down, I haven't died yet at least :D

Also, anyone know the closest place to Eravate where I can pick up a cobra?

Try near highly populated industrialized systems that have large space stations. If the system has been explored, you can view the stations in the system map.
