Half a billion credit bounty in Eravate

Yeah you’ll only get a couple million for getting them. BUT, even if they’re in a freewinder, they’ll have to pay their bounties in full before they can leave. Thats a huge amount of credits to dish out.

Understood, although it's fair to say that if Frontier intended the forced repayment upon death to act as a deterrent against murder-hobo-ing, it doesn't yet appear to be working as intended...

For a few reasons, I think...

1) In order to avoid payment, you simply have to be good at not dying.
2) If you die outside of a bounty's jurisdiction, then you don't pay for that jurisdiction (if I recall)
3) Part of the reason for interstellar bounties was to add risk to #2, as they would aggregate jurisdictional bounties at a superpower level. But they have yet to be implemented.

Did I miss anything or get anything wrong?

I repeat, I don't think Frontier will ever permit more than trivial credit transfer via bounty PvP kills, therefore.

The true discussion, it seems to me, is over how PvP bounty hunting can be facilitated as a RP/endgame thing, not as a credits thing.
I don't think FDev will do that either. In today's game, 2M is still a bit on the light side tbh. They may wanna consider bumping that a bit more atleast.

Not sure how PvP Bounty Hunting could be made viable in the current game tbh. All the chips are stacked against the Bounty Hunters and for the Outlaws. You've written about some of the reasons in several good posts, like Hit Point Inflation. If an Outlaw doesn't wanna die, they just won't. No two ways about it. The only thing you can hope for as a Bounty Hunter is that you either a)catch them on a really bad they when they are way deep in the bottle and it's 4am on Sunday morning, or b)that you can pester them enough to make them leave the system.

There's also Bartle's Taxonomy which seems to affect this. An incredibly high percentage of the Ks appear to be firmly stacked on the Outlaw side. Leaving SEA to most of the rest of the game's population. Unless Bounty Hunting becomes a truly social event, unlocks new things, or comes with a non-exploitable leaderboard or whatnot, there is little incentive for those groups to engage in it. The game has enough things for those as it is imo.
