Newcomer / Intro Half a million credits available - act now. (CG now over)

By making just one delivery of gold to the community goal (CG) at LFT 133 system (Sullivan Dock) you will receive a guaranteed 500,000 cr reward. This CG will not last much longer, certainly not to it's scheduled end so if you want a piece of the action you need to get in there now.

REMEMBER TO SIGN-UP FOR THE COMMUNITY GOAL IN THE MISSION BOARD OF SULLIVAN DOCK BEFORE SELLING YOUR GOLD IN THE MARKET.

Details of the community goal (and others) can be found in the first post of this thread:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/245756-Active-Community-Goals-Thread-6

also post #9340 in that thread gives a bit of a crib-sheet for finding gold for sale in nearby systems (link here):

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...als-Thread-6?p=4455454&viewfull=1#post4455454

Good luck and don't do it in open, use solo or a private group to avoid any idiots.

Edit: P.S. If you are into pew-pew, the bounty hunting CG at the same place is also giving high rewards (min 600,000) - details in the thread linked above.

LATER EDIT - THIS CG HAS NOW FINISHED.

You can probably get into the 75% rather easily too and that's over 4 million. Ever since I started doing CGs my luck turned for much better :)

Some things to keep in mind.

1 The star is a white dwarf and it is very easy to mess up your avoidance turn when you come out of jump picking up damage when it wrenches you out of super cruise. This star type is set to become more hazardous with 2.2.
2 It is a moderately long cruise to the station 2,500 ls area.
3 Pirates like gold so expect them to admire your cargo from afar, and also try to admire it when they get it inside their hold.
4 A lot of nearby systems have been severely depleted of their gold supply, but should still be supplies within about 7 light years.
5 Expect a lot of player traffic, I was there in Mobius and was queueing outside the station waiting for a pad.

But yes there is some good money to be had there for not to much risk/effort, however don't delay it is already past tier 7 of 8.

Do it in Solo and read my guide how to survive interdictions (in my signature). You can skip the rant and scroll down to actual tips.

Use EDDB to find stations with gold. There should be several within 10Ly or less.

The White Dwarf warning is spot on! In particular if you're flying a large ship, like T6 or bigger.

Remember that (probably) the best way to get out of interdiction is to jump out to another system. So as soon as you avoid the white star set another system for jump (make sure you have a key assigned to next star in the route!). Then choose Sullivan Dock to fly to. Set both stations as Favorites so they're easy to select and plot a route to in the Galaxy Map.

Also carry mines and spam the attacker with mines before jumping out or if you can't make the jump. Mines are very powerful. I was able to destroy many interdictors with mines while flying a T6. All this is in my guide, but this is the basics.

Good luck!

Always zero your throttle when hyperjump engages (get in the habit, it will become very important I believe).

On run-in to destination station in supercruise, if there is time use the galaxy map to plot a route to a station in a different system (I use a bookmark), then on exiting galaxy map use LHS nav screen to select the current destination station. Now if interdicted you have a ready-plotted high-wake escape, just use your "target next system on route" hotkey (this has saved my posterior on many occasions), if you have not assigned a key to this then I strongly recommend it.

So now you have your cutter from the last CG, are you in the top 10 CMDRs with this one?? And if so, how many tons?

No, I have an Anaconda :D I'm Neutral so I can't buy imperial ships. 400T per run. OMG, that More Imperial Warships CG was a literal Free Anaconda Giveaway :) I'm so glad I got into it. I made it to 25% in three days starting with Asp Exp and ending with a T7. I was stupidly ignoring CGs all this time.

BTW, it did not come easy. I bet the farm on that CG. I'm crazy, I took a day off to play and I grinded for many, many hours.

A tiny bit more and the rewards multiply ridiculously. I got sucked in though. Made a few runs, took on a few bounties and now I'm desperately trying to enter the top 50-25% in both! haha.

I think this is the second one ever I have actually bothered with (and I missed the Imperial warships one) - on this one, I am in the top 10% with a little over 6500 t of Gold delivered......Can't take a day off though so I need it to end....soon!

I was really tempted to jump in on this one, but I would have been coming in very late and I wasn't sure if I could even crack the 99% barrier only carrying 36 tons of gold per run. I'll definitely keep my eye on future CGs though, and try to jump in early on ones that look doable.

Normally one tonne is sufficient to reach Top 99% (or one kill in case of a bounty hunting CG or one report for an exploration CG).
As Top 99% actually represents Top 99.99% unless its changed since 2.1.

Currently the number of participants used to calculate the percentages for the levels is the number that signed up, 11,000 odd this time, a large number of those who signed up never actually deliver anything so there could have been 2,000 - 5,000 people sitting on zero tonnes delivered. It probably wouldn't take much more than 4 runs for you to get into the Top 50%.

In most of the CGs I did, I broke the 50% barrier around 800 tons, give or take a couple hundred. So in small ship it is a two days work, in a big ship, it's two rounds. But definitely doable, no matter what one flies.

And yes I agree with aRJay that reaching 99% is really easy. One just have to do something - bring 1 ton of the desired commodity, shoot one pirate for 400Cr, anything, any small contribution and you're in.. :)

Agreed - I was in my multi-role 'Vette, commencing @ 430t (later ditched the collector limpet controller to up to 448t)

One single run put me in top 50%, 3 runs into 25% and a further 5 into the top 10% (Obviously this was at that time of progress, so when I logged in the following day I was back down to 25% again). One run popped me back into 10% where I stayed.
My final delivery number was 8,4946t however I don't believe I needed to deliver anywhere near that figure to be in top 10%. Was ambitiously trying to get to top 10 or top 3 whatever it was.

Thanks for the info - I'm still at the point in the game where every credit counts. :)
CGs were extremely helpful for me in this first couple of months - actually it was a tip from other CMDRs on a thread such as this. Even Top 75% should be achievable for a relative newcomer assuming the CG station is not too far from your current destination.
Actually CG's are still my main source of income, now that I am playing less (due to RL and as I'm on Mac so no Horizons).

Was there anything in particular that prevented you from participating or you just weren't sure if it was worth it? You should have tried. As the others said, it's easy to get into the lowest bracket and still make a decent amount of CR.

Have you tried Rare Commodities trading? That's also very profitable and that's how I got my wings off the ground.
