Hand Tracking (Leap Motion)

"Where are my hands??" is a common feeling with VR. Leap Motion solves the problem. However, positioning the joystick might be a bit tricky, but would be definitely make us feel more like we're in the cockpit. Could also be useful for tapping holo screens.

Oculus purchased Nimble a while ago, so they will have their own first party hand tracking hardware/software in the future

Yeah i bought the leap motion after the orion vr update cause it only costs $26 on eBay and it works pretty great and takes the immersion to another level even if its not 100% perfect all the time. Someone made support for fsx and some other flight sim that looked pretty cool so I'm sure it would be an great addition to the game if it would be made:) flicking switches and using the hologram menus as touch screens in vr would be great!

I believe the mod is called "Fly Inside."

I just bought a Leap Motion and I look forward to trying this in FSX using Fly Inside. Hopefully it won't take too long to add support for the HTC Vive.

I wonder if Frontier are considered adding Leap Motion support?

I think it would be fantastic:
- VR,
- HOTAS
- Voice control via Voice Attack
- Direct hand control of the UI's using Leap Motion

Don't forget you'll need to put your joysticks in the same locations as they are in the game, otherwise you'll have them floating around weirdly.

I must have a bad one because my Leap Motion doesn't seem to be able to track my hands very well when it's in the VR mount. I'm lucky if I get one hand tracked.

I'm really disappointed that it doesn't work as advertised because it would be really nice to project my hands in to the virtual world.

have you tried using the new orion drivers?

https://developer.leapmotion.com/orion

they work a lot better than it used to.

i've been playing around with the latest version of flyinside that uses this for P3D/FSX, performance wise it varies from cockpit to cockpit but its certainly very promising.
