Hang on, let me turn this T9 around... one sec... one sec... any minute now...!

Ok, so you get the general gist of this thread from the title.
The turning speed on the T9....
It's ... well, to call it abysmal would be kind. Heh!

Now I'm not saying uber-vamp it... well, sure I would love that, but it ain't gonna happen... but on the off chance that FD don't improve it (Go on! I'll be your best friend..>!), I'm trying to think if there are ways of improving it with current changes.

First up - why?
Well, basically, because due to the literal impossibility to turn faster than milk on a lukewarm afternoon, I'm finding there's no point having anything but Turrets on the ship. You never even get to see your enemy. In fact, the last Cobra I fought died and I don't think I even saw it once for the entire fight duration! Heh!

Now... I'm currently rocking a 7B thrusters. I suppose I could go up to 7A, but I'm not convinced how much difference that would make. And let's be fair, for 51 Million?! It would have to make the dingdongdiddly ship turn on a flambustuous penny! Lol!
(You get my drift...)

So, what other options are there?
I suppose there is thrust-spinning, but the heat problems are pretty bad on the old bird and maxing out at around 200m/s doesn't get you much these days! :D

So I need some ideas.
Do you think the T9 could use a little spinning love? (Oh - It's perfectly ok to disagree. But let's try to be polite about it! We're all friends here! :p )

You have already stated that you have room to improve the ship. 51 million, for how much improvement?

I would stick with the turrets; it is said that they are working better these days, but forget the turning. I don't think the T-9 was designed for turning, anyway.

Yeeah, I do - but 50 mil is a big outlay, so I was wondering if there were some cheaper improvements I could consider.
50m seems like a crazy amount to go from class B to class A (up from just 16m)

The "A" rated thrusters do help, I loved my A rated T9 (Daisy, my white space cow) when I her.

Now I'm in an A spec Cutter... it turns really well with 728T of cargo.
You don't actually change direction, but at least you can face any way you want while going in a straight line.
I've even tried FA Off and FA On - makes no difference to the handling at all.

I miss Daisy, at least I could dock her first attempt, every time.

But yea, try the A thrusters ;)

Think of it as borrowing it for 50mil. If you got the cash to spin, go for it. You can just get it back anytime by selling it.

The relationship between me and my T9 was very short lived, but I had no weapons on it. Big shields and boosters + cell banks, maybe some countermeasures. Nothing can effectively mass lock that monstrosity.

I found little difference between the 7D and 7A thrusters on the T9, if you are expecting a big difference in turning speed you will be disappointed.

The space cows major strength is it's huge (500T) cargo capacity. Or, if you prefer you can turn it into a mining beast :) It's a big money maker, just don't expect it to be any good at combat. Save your credits.

Hmm, T9 can melt faces, if it so desires, but actual "strengths" I've yet not encountered.

Anaconda, Cutter and Corvette can "effectively" mass lock a T9.

However, in that situation people should be jumping out of the system and not trying to supercruise, so mass shouldn't be an issue if the player knows that trick.

T9 101: If you're not 777Driver, then forget about it.

lol. aye. t9 is great; but it is not for turning. Turrets and big <proverbial> shield and boosters for glory and profit. I used one for a long time as a mining rig. :)

There's plenty of Battlecows in Conflict Zones with Missiles, Lasers and Plasma-Accelerators (!) and while I didn't really enjoy the slow speed of the T9, I will readily admit (and appreciate) it indeed is part of the Type-9s charm. Making it more agile would, in my opinion, ruin the experience of actually flying a huge cargo freighter.
If anything its cargo capacity should be buffed, not the agility.

Lots of cargo space isn't a strength?

No, not really. Unless you can defend what you have. You might have 210 trillion tons of cargo space, but if you can't keep what you have... then it's as good as you had none, or worse - as you have to pay for rebuy.

How effective is effective? :D

I grinded a ton in my T9. It's not really fun to turn in, but you get really good at not missing your destination. If you do it can take minutes to get it back in your view sometimes.

Well, 777 schools 'condas with a T9, so... yea.

Well, maybe you and 777 should get a room...! ;)

Yes, the turning in SC is even worse than normal space! Even when solidly in the blue!
Perhaps that's where it also needs to loving as well.

Hmm.
Actually, that's a good point!
I guess I could offset the cost for when I upgrade to the Conda perhaps. :D

My only thought is that by the time I have enough to buy the thrusters, I'll also have enough to buy the COnda anyway, so... yeah :p
