Hangar Bay instead of Fighter Bay!

Dear Devs,

I read in one spot that the "Fighter Bay is capable of holding ships to the size of a sidewinder." So how about upgrading the Fighter Bay to an real Hangar Bay?
So, what for? For a great opportunity to give Multicrew a cool twitch. By enabling Large SHips like the Conda to hold a bunch of Sideys that can be equipped with moduls a Crew would be able to:

-Unload Cargo on a Platform by doing ferry runs
-Explore a system faster by deploying scouts
-Serve as a Capitan#s Yacht
-Ferry Passengers down to a Planetary Site
and much more, you name it...

A second step would be to enable more "small landing pad" size ships to dock depending on the Size of the Hangar Module ( a Size 7 should sure be able to hold one or two eagles right? )

This would greatly enhance "Role Playing" and also enable new mission styles.

Think about it, the basics are in the game already anyway....

Regards,

Regards,

The standard size of the hangar bay hatch is the problem.
Sideys won't fit, I think.

It would be awesome if I could have an Imperial Eagle on board of my Cutter, but the (Imp) Eagle is larger than it appears to be.
Even the 'small' spaceships in ED are not that small at all.

I do believe that FD should redesign the hatch on the big ships so that in the future they have more options.
In an interview Braben mentioned shuttles for the big ships. I hope that is still the plan.

Same goes for SRV's. We should get more types of them, but I wonder if the size of the SRV bay hatch limits the options too much.
I would like to have some heavy assault SRV, or a mining SRV, or a larger cargo SRV in the future.
Bigger ships should get bigger hatches so they have more SRV options.

Logically the size of the belly hatch of a ship should always relate to the biggest compartment size they have... otherwise it would be interesting to learn how to "Move In" a Size 6 passenger cabin through a size 3 hatch :)

The Anacondas info blurb in the shipyard used to say it was capable of carrying a Sidewinder, they changed the wording when fighter bays were added so that it no longer could. FD have a habit of taking out the great ideas and making the game more "meh" instead.

I am not sure that is true. A size 6 passenger cabin might be moved in in parts and put together inside (that is how I got my bed in the bedroom :)).
Also some ships like the Python seem to have a huge hatch at the back of the ship that is not used currently, but might be in the future when 'walking around' is implemented.

Cobra, Eagle & others even have a Person sozed Hatch with a lader :/) we sure will get Space legs some day! They did model the interior of the ships fully from day one!

well they say that, but not sure any of them are workable or are in game, you can lean through walls in VR and the ship interiors are absent, you can see some parts through a damaged anacondas hull though.

Many times yes. Thanks to this you could take a large ship to an outpost station, park it next to it, hop in the sidey or eagle and visit the station, deal with the factions there and then get back to your ship. Great addition to the gameplay when it comes to flying large ships. This should be relatively easy to implement, all bits are there already except from the option of being able to park a fighter ship in an outpost.
I would also love to have a crew for exploration, so I could send someone to scan the system whilst I can park on a planet and look for materials. I'd imagine this would require additional interface changes to give more specific orders to your crew but even just "Scan unexplored" would be great, though it might not be easy to implement.
