Happens every time...tough getting old

Just about every time I play ED (DK2) guess what happens?

I fall asleep. Yes, literally and I have to force myself to logoff before I run into a star or a station or someone else. It's tough getting old. It's so peaceful and beautiful in the DK2 in space it just does something to me, like make me tired as hell lol.

The Mrs. has, on a few occasions, woke me up saying "Come on "Starlord" let's get to bed". She's the best :D

Best part though? I can play anytime I want, night or day. Retirement and age has it's upsides too :D

It's the other way round for me. ED keeps me up late at night when I have to work in the morning.

First world problems.:D

Nice going Sanderson :) ...I am in my late 30's and working from morning to 18 o'clock. I manage to play 4-5 hrs/daily while watching movie with my wife and playing with my dogs. At 22 in the evening, all goes quiet, wife sleeping, dogs sleeping and I let myself absorbed by the cold space of ED. Then I play the game like it is a real one. Like I am with my family in cockpit, checking preflight options, keeping eyes on radar, hud, taking brakes only while in hangar ....we all want to live in SciFi worlds full of Star Wars, Star Trek , Babylon 5 and Stargate characters ...well, I do live it :)

Well Sanderson, I'll be quite happy to get you a Bovril and a blanket.....SANDERSON, I'm talking to you, stay awake........and a blanket for your knees, I'm glad to hear.....SANDERSON!...snap out of it.......I'm glad to hear your missus is being good about it and that.....SANDERSON, bloody hell...never mind, nighty night :D

Sanderson, don't fell asleep !!!

The last line is soooo true. I'm glad this game didn't get going until after I retired (although I still regret not joining in the kick starter). Having more hours available to practise may balance out the faster reflexes of younger commanders, but only if we can stay awake. I haven't dozed off in flight yet, thanks for the heads-up, I'll watch out for it from now on!

Perhaps Frontier would be kind enough to add an option for a discreet alarm to trigger every 5 minutes or so when in super cruise for those of advanced wisdom. Wouldn't want to lose you down some cosmic sink hole now would we :D

I, too, have started to feel drowsy while in SC. I feel my eyes slowly shut and my head ready to bash the keyboard. In some cases I am still fighting this urge when I exit SC and then try to dock! ... The starport looming into view when you jerk back awake is scary! I find this is exacerbated by having to get up early to go to work, then arrive home tired ten hours later!

Oh yes, that is neat is the with this game, 16y olds dont win by default and I think experience is useful here, indeed.
if you are 16: no offence, I am must jealous :)

I've had my best immersion moments while passing out inebriated with the oculus still on my face.
I suddenly wake up and expect to see my room, but I am in a space ship!
I look around for a bit before I realized I was not dreaming. Had the biggest grin on my face.

I don't play with a DK2, but I can't pull the long sessions like I used to. Partly due to net being dodgey issues but also I am sure it is just age. Don't think I could manage an all-nighter in Elite any more.
