Happy 10 Year Anniversary Elite Dangerous.

Just a quick note to apricate that we've has this game for 10 years (11 if you were in the Alpha). Personally, I'd like to thank all members of Fdev who've worked on this game (past and present), for giving me a RL escape for that time and, in addition, to all members of the community who (despite some of the negative and grumbling), is still one of the friendliest and accepting game communities out there.

So here's a Screen shot taken almost ten years ago today, and lets hope that Elite : Dangerous is developed well into the future!

P.S. It's the last Lave Radio of the year on the 17th. See you around Lave Station!

Happy anniversary Elite Dangerous :)

Genuinely never expected it to last this long, nor that I would still be playing & have had so many adventures over the past 10 years (not quite for me, I bought the game after Christmas once I had a PC good enough to meet the minimum spec).

Lots of us are doing a pilgrimage back to Trevithick Dock in LHS 3447 today (the start location for many of us), I'm out in the black in Live so I'm doing it in Legacy.

Still the best game of its genre, and still the first and only one that gave us a 1:1 scale representation of our galaxy.

10 years ago today I remember sitting outside the starter station and looking at the dusty band of the Milky Way and thinking 'we can go there'. No game since has captured that feeling of awe.

Happy anniversary Elite Dangerous 🍾🍻

Agreed.

I was going to highlight some of the other amazing things that happened in 2014 but when I looked at the wikipedia page ... damn it was a smorgasbord of misery, death and disaster. Elite: Dangerous ... officially the best thing to happen in 2014 and still going strong. 🥳

I missed the early years of Elite but I do remember reading about the game and the community events in magazines at the time and it was all positive from what I recall.

Thanks to Frontier for asking backers whether there was interest in a new version of the game, and building on that initial backing to go on and develop and release the game, its ongoing development and recent resurgence, and to the community for making it what it is today!

Here's to many more years to come!! :D

Happy official 10th birthday Elite Dangerous!

I was on my way back from my first journey to the Pleiades Cluster, in an 11Ly jump range Cobra, and a sadistic NPC in an Eagle trying to kill me the whole way back :D

The very first thing I wanted to do was visit it because it's my favourite object in the night sky. The very fact that I can do that, and visit places like my Avatar is still something unique to this game. It will always have a special place for me.

Thanks to everyone who's had a part in making it happen. People who are still with the company, those who have moved on to new places, and those who are on a different journey now 💜

Happy 10 year anniversary Elite Dangerous! Here we are, 10 years older and I truly hope I can type the same message on these forums on 14th Dec 2034 :)

There's been ups and downs. We gained some people and we sadly lost some too.

A lot has happened during these 10 years, both in the game and in my personal life. But one thing I can say for sure is that Elite Dangerous was always my escape when things went a bit south, but it was also there when I was celebrating succeses.

I'm just glad we're still here and that we can still play this incredible game! ❤️

Here's to another 10! 🍻

That would explain why I can't find your carrier... :)

I did say Legacy ;)

Just checked, Stealthie & some Cmdr from Winged Hussars (i assume Rootrat) have carriers in Live with open access.

In Legacy my carrier is allowing access & has some commodities available to buy (somebody has taken some already), I have more stuff to sell that I'll make available later so later arrivals can get some too.

That explains the two other FC's there...

Bought a stock sidewinder & parked up in Threvithick Dock. It's been a while ;)

Traffic report is up 20 ships on yesterday (in Legacy). Picked up one Cmdr on my contacts tab but never actually saw a resolved contact while I was docked at yaping mucking about with cosmetics on my new sidey.
