Happy 2nd Anniversary!

2 years ago today, we began walking in Elite Dangerous Universe.

So glad that this game exists to makes up for the shortcomings of the Real World and hope it will live on so the next generations can enjoy the unique world of Elite Dangerous.

Sorry for hijacking this thread a bit, but the timing is so good - after two years of flying in the black, I finally today got to a fleet carrier with Pioneer Services, and was able to purchase an Artemis suite (and all the other suits and weapons at the same time). Thanks to all the DSSA owners!

I was in the Odyssey beta two years ago, and in there got to experience the bio-scanning with the ring-matching minigame that it was at the time. When the beta was ending I asked on the beta forum about whether we could get the suits only from stations, since that would leave in-the-black explorers out of that new content for "a while". For me the "while" was two years, and it would have been more if the possibility to upgrade Fleet Carriers with these services wouldn't have happened (and if some great DSSA carrier owners wouldn't have included Pioneer in their carriers!).

Now I'm looking forward to landing on some planets to look for biologicals - in my beta-reward -Pioneer Orange suit! :)

Side note: After buying and equipping the suit, I see my pilot image to have changed the facial expression to a weird smirk - I remember someone mentioning that way back in the forums, but don't remember if anyone found a way to cancel that change or get a more normal facial expression back to their avatar. If anyone knows of a way to affect it, I'd appreciate any info on that.

One more question: I've read about "the suit grind" and I see the Pioneer store apparently requiring some unfamiliar materials and schematics and what not to be able to upgrade a suit. I probably won't need those upgrades really out in the deep black, but would still like to know, how would one go about getting those requirements - are they only accessible via stations (missions there or material traders or something like that)? Or can any of that be done while having DSSA FC's as the only link to "civilization"?

Nope you have to do on foot missions, and lately smuggling missions for anarchies.

The good news is that you don't really need it for exploring with an artemis suit.

Mods that could be interesting, improved battery capacity, improved jump assist, increased sprint duration, or maybe night vision.

Still none of them are really necessary in any way.

Your expression changes depending on what suit you're wearing. I always switch back to my flight suit because the maverick suit smirk irritates me.

As you are out in deep space, you won't see the massive performance problems caused by NPCs. Once (or indeed if) you ever end up on foot in populated space, I hope you have a strong CPU!

FD have improved performance considerably since launch two years ago, but it's still pretty shonky in a lot of situations.

Okay, it will indeed probably take me a long time (another two years or more?) to get back to populated space, but let's hope at that time either my computer is strong enough or the game doesn't require that much - anyway it will be a long time :)

Thanks - I put my Artemis as my default (logical for exploring) and noticed the smirk, so it seems Artemis has that same look (or well, I tried all different suits on at a time, can't be sure what I had on when noticing the smirk, could have been Maverick, too). Good to know I can try to switch back to flight suit to get rid of it!

Yay - after about 1.5 hours of work (first finding a planet with biologicals, then finding the three different samples from it, then returning to cash them in), I got my first exobiology sale!

The payout was actually quite a bit more than I expected! I remember reading mentions about increased exobiology payouts, not sure if this is normal or not, but anyway, looks good to me! Especially the "first discovery bonus", bringing the total payout to about 95 million for one species:
