In the UK they never made it a public holiday and i wasn't a father when i lived there. However, now in Russia and we get Defender of the Fatherland day (which is sometimes called Man day - not restricted to fathers) on Feb 23rd, and is a public holiday. It tends to be a rather drunken day, and the one day of the year i can sit playing on the computer without my wife nagging me
