Happy new year, everybody - storytime!

Ah, finally.

I have two small children, so while my wife is away at the neighbour's party, I have to/get to stay home and babysit. So I kick back, no better way to spend the last day of the year with the new version of my childhood memories and a glass of whisky. Loading my type 6 up with gold, aligning with the docking slit I casually engage the throttle and whisper "Landing" to VoiceAttack. However, this evening, no landing gears were retracted. Glancing over to the other screen, I see "Unrecognized: World" in the voice attack window.

"World?" I whisper unintentionally.

"Recognized: Purge" - and my ship empties all 92 tons of gold into the station docking slit. Warnings of fines blare all over.

I enter 2015 with no voiceattack command for purge all and the key unbound.

Best of wishes to you all.

my two year old sitting in my lap *helping* her best way, was watching me land on a station, i dropped out of SC to the side of it and used my VA command to boost around to the front, i have the phrase "hit it" assigned to it and apparently my little buggermonster liked the phrase as she proceeded to repeat it just as i was aligning to the slot, clear as a bell, VA picked it up as she was sitting on the microphone side anyway and was more then happy to oblige. on the bright side, she liked the resulting explosion and well, the insurance covered the rest (funny how fast you get used to THAT phrase when you become a parent)

this is why I always always always make sure I have my landing gear out at least 2 - 3km from the station. It has prevented many unwanted boosts. But yes, I know I look like a dork flying around and through the slot with my landing gear down, but until there's a way to build in a safety shut off for boosts, I'm okay with looking like a dork. That one close call was enough. (It also makes sure I fly in slow enough so when I trespass accidentally it gives me enough time to backout.)

hehe i had not requested docking (another VA macro) at that point, i was just getting in position. that macro lowers my landing gear and turns the lights on as well with a simple "request docking"

btw, love your little ships in your avatar, they paper?

I had a similar problem with voice attack. I set words like "Computer Jump" , "Computer Map" etc. and my 5yr found it really funny for me to drop landing gear in a fight or call up the galaxy map just as i enter a station.

These small people of evil geniuses. lol

I ended up getting ride of VA while its soooooooooo cool, it allows other things (those little people we love) to cause us so many problems in the game.

For the record I ask my 5yr why he did it, He mentioned that he wanted to play lego. So no logic really.
