I think they missed a big trick by not setting the date to 3299 or 3399 so we could celebrate a brand new galactic millennium tomorrow. Now we'll have to wait 999 years. 
By the way, has anyone noticed a big boom in slaves? The federation market was so packed with offers the other day that I found a place which sold slaves openly and traded with offers on the same BB. I made 300k without moving from the starport. I love game bugs.
