$30.00 buys the basic game, an additional $30 buys the rest. If your going digital, it's worth the $60. If your going disk the basic is $30.00 the rest is mire thsn $30.

Any one know if the sidney has to be gold. The way I read it is, it's a preorder bonus, basically that makes it a paint scheme. Can I wait and apply it (gold paint) to a different ship?

Ship paint schemes are unique to the ship so Sidewinder only I am afraid.

Like Stormy says, gold paint is just for the Sidewinder, but I bet it's optional if you rather pick one of the different colors that we get with Commander's pack (see post above) or just generic.

Yup. You can apply the paint schemes you own in station or just stick with the default.

Yes, you don't have to have a gold sidey, you can leave it stock or apply one of the vibrant pack colours from the included Commander Pack paintjobs.
