Harassment in Elite Dangerous- Stalking, Carrier Griefing, Harassment

Evening Cmdrs, I have a bit of a situation. There's a commander in question, who was removed from our squad. The commander was considered a negative entity in the group and was removed for everyone's well-being. This commander, HOWEVER, has been harassing one of my friends, and squadmates. The commander has followed my friend across the galaxy, harassed in emails, as well as private messages on PlayStation. Now he put a good amount on the carrier ($10bil. maybe), sat it where we normally play, and logged off and uninstalled Elite dangerous. All this is because this commander is stalking my squadmate. I was asked to message on her behalf. I looked on Frontier there is no way to report a player for harassment on the page. I would like a FDev to please contact me and take this very seriously. It is ruining her game experience, and on top of it, the commander is Stalking. It has gone too far. INARA even was contacted due to his harassment on that platform as well. I hope I can get an almost immediate response.

Have you sent a copy of the messages to sony? I believe they are hot on weirdos, but that is not experience of mine, just from threads on here. Sorry about this though, it should not happen. She may have to ghost the weirdo to get the message over, but that's not a reasonable solution I realize :(

.... Elite is meant to be enjoyed. NOT harassed in. We play open play as many should. He literally afk 10 bil to his carrier... because he couldn't earn it with us. So im sure he did that or something of the sort. Filled the bank. Uninstalled Elite. So you think he's going away? That's 10 years of upkeep. On top of I have emails that this commander's intentions...

I need a Dev.. I have tried everything. And I won't accept this harassment from a player or anyone.. There is no easy way to handle this so I need direct assistance if Frontier upholds its Code of conduct policy. This is a horrific situation.. and it's not condoned.

You might suggest to the Commander that is being harassed to change her in-game name?

You could also form a new squadron with the same members (excepting stalker ofc), so the name would be unbeknownst to the stalker, would that help at all?

Also, I do not know what comms your squadron uses, but you might try Discord. That way you can regulate who gets in.

Good luck to you.

This is a very serious thing.

Try this: https://customersupport.frontier.co.uk/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000782980

The link is for PC, because I am playing on a PC, but I am sure there is a console equivalent. It is a Moderation support ticket and those get answered quite fast. Mine was bug related and I got a solution after 24h. But in this case, my assumption is that the response time should be much shorter.

Below a screenshot how it should look like

Also FDev has the below thing on their site, so they are obligated to take action

HARASSMENT

We do not tolerate harassment within our community or our games. This is defined as being insulting to any person via obscene, offensive, hateful or inflammatory comments. This also includes the prolonged, extensive, and/or malicious targeting of an individual or group of individuals through Frontier-owned platforms for the purposes of disruption or agitation.

It is indeed serious, the problem is the most that FDEV can do is a) recommend blocking or b) banning the player at fault, but that won't solve the issue if the player is using the playstation network to harass, and also if emails are involved which is outside the game entirely and actually in the public arena. Sure I would recommend contacting FDEV, but also at least playstation network and the players ISP to take care of the email issue.

I totally agree. This type of behaviour carries tremendous weight and cannot go unpunished. The internet is a free place, where technically speaking you can do whatever you want, but only if there is respect towards each other. We can have disagreements, we might not like each other on the internet, or have heated discussions. That's fine. But stalking/harassment on the net, no matter the environment, game, chat, social media etc. falls under the same offence as it would in the real life.

So i hope FDev, on which playground this happened, and aswell as other parties involved will take necessary action and support the affected person with the means that are necessary.

Block him and don't land on the carrier?
Also report, if you can quote actual abusive messages verbatim. Through a CS ticket I would think.

IF they play on PS report and block them on PSN.
I'm not sure how this is working on PS, but on XB you can report someone for harassment and you can also block them.
The Block is effective for chat AND for ingame interactions.

Edit: to be clear, you dont report them in-game. On consoles you have to report them using the Console reporting system

If you have screenshots or similar as evidence of their behaviour this should be reported via PSN and attach what you can on that report (block them too while you're at it). Looking at what you've described I don't think a simple ban from Elite Dangerous would be enough here as they're already finding other ways to harass your friend that Frontier can do nothing about.

If it's something like an offensively titled fleet carrier then that's one thing, but for the emails, you've got to sort this out through Sony.

If their harassment spans multiple platforms trying to get them banned won't do much, especially if the harasser is willing to make new/Alt accounts. I'd screen shot everything, record the URL's, then google your local cyber crimes unit to report the harassment and stalking providing them screen shots and URL's so they can contact the websites to gain the necessary user information to try and track them down to press legal charges. I wish you the best of luck, and ask please consider my advice, it's likely the only way you can get justice for this.

Any sort of harrassement in Elite Dangerous is forbidden according to Frontiers rules! Stealing credits from your fleet carrier is not possible. Maybe you set up wrong some market prices?
