Hardly anything left to do combat wise?

Hey,

I notice if you do not really have time during the week there is little left when it comes to Int fighting. The progress on pretty much all systems being invaded or so is done by Friday/Saturday it seems. I have a harder and harder time finding an appropriate system. Appropriate = fighting Ints with a starport (be it space or ground) around for repairs and re-arming.

Wasn't there a recent change where a system marked with "counterstrike" gets some starport re-activated for repairs? Yet when I look for example at HIP 113076 inara claims everything is abandonded there.

This is only present at the “weakest” Titan with the least remaining control systems - so you have to look around Thor, at the moment. Alas, the four systems with a reactivated surface port around it this week have all been defeated already, around about on Saturday, or the night from Sat to Sunday.

Personally, I’d think that the invasion balance is a bit off considering how long their in-game timer lasts but they can be beaten out of existence within one or two days. Of course, Frontier right now doesn’t want the Thargoids pushing out, but I would think that letting invasions run for more than one or two days would not be harmful to that goal… then again, I’m no game developer, so what do I know.

When the ports disappeared I started grumbling and went to zones in space.
Now with the return of ports, I noticed that the battle in the port is much longer even compared to the average zone.
No swarms that you don't pay attention to, but at the cost of too many scouts.
And it's much easier and faster for me to finish even the middle zone than the port.
There is a problem with ammo but weapon parts are easy to pick up during combat. Just use the right ship and it will be easy.

Try modified plasma chargers, they last way longer and remove much of the need for synthesis.

Oh, I realized my mistake today. First, I re-read the patch notes:
  • In previously populated counterstrike systems, one port will reactivate and will have an AXCZ available
  • This port will have repair/rearm available, but will not offer missions
  • Planetary ports will be favored. If no suitable planetary ports are available, a space based port will reactivate instead
  • These systems can be identified on the Galaxy Map as stacked counterstrike and port under attack icons.
So, now that I knew which systems actually qualify for that I checked out Grego Survey in HIP 19198 and turned out it did offer landing and all re-arm/repair/refuel services. The port is still listed as "abandoned" on inara which added to the confusion.

So, long story short: look out for that red "under attack" icon on the galaxy map plus the counterstrike symbol, choose one of those systems and go to the (star)port listed as under attack on the system map (or the marked one in the list when in supercruise within that system), at least as long as the bar is not filled completely yet.

Usually the bar fills up very quickly, and there is no more port, and the red icon will hang until Thursday ...

Oh man, and there we are again. I finally got weekend, wanted to play ED and it turns out all invasion targets are all done / defended. :( I really love the Thargoid war and what they made out of that but if there is less and less a chance to participate... it seems with the last Titan we are really running low on invasion targets that are done by Saturday already (not the first time however). :/

Also, it makes me me worry again what will happen after the last Titan. This is pretty much the only high end combat content. I hope I do not have to get back to killing pirates and leave out of boredom. :p

Can always still go fight Thargoids in the destroyed remnant Titan 'debris' fields, no? -- Speaking of which, does anyone know how to scan THESE.....

You didn't have a xeno scanner. Without it any Thargoid ship will display as "Unknown".

ahhh YES that was indeed the solution! ( i had forgotten my Crusader wasn't equipped like my other AX ships ) -- Anyways, THANKS! o7

Good to know. Yet from what it looks, are there scouts only?
A single Thargoid Interceptor and either two Scythes (will not bother you unless shot or you have human cargo/bio-storage pods) or Glaives (they seem to be very rare, only heard other players' reports), Scouts don't seem to spawn once caustic dissipates.
