From the patch notes:

- Hardpoints can no longer be deployed while in supercruise. This doesn't affect the usage of scanners and interdictors etc

Well in fact I just saw a commander in SC with hardpoints deployed (likely scanning)

I know that use is not affected - but we understood "can not be deployed" as "can not be seen deployed", i.e. scanners and interdictors work without deploying (and therefore can not be seen while active). Now it appears not to be the case, which is good news for many :)
