Hardpoints Indicator

What about the giant message that comes up when you try to jump with then out, or the aiming reticle ?

What about them?
We just want a visual indication of their state like other systems, not to find out that state after you activate something.
As for the aiming reticle that has changed since the introduction of Analysis/Combat modes.

I find it weird that launching a limpet deploys hard points when the limpet controller isn't a hard point. Seems amiss. Same with heat sinks and chaff
I believe that is a user configurable thing, turn off auto-deploy hard-points on fire and it should not happen.

I get no indication when hardpoints are deployed. That's why this thread exists.
In essence there already is an indication - if your weapons are mapped to an active fire group and deployed you can see them persist on the HUD.

If hardpoints are not deployed, then normally the weapon states are not perpetually visible on the HUD.

I have 10 ships and 9 of them don't carry weapons. I do some wake scanning however and there is no indication hardpoints are deployed..

Wake scanners need to be deployed to be used last time I checked - the same rule applies to them that does to weapons.

For weapons/utility items that require hardpoints deployed they are only perpetually visible on the HUD when deployed.

I guess I have a bug then. Having a visual indicator would solve the problem. Why have a landing light indicator when it is obvious the lights are on?
Landing gear, cargo scoop etc., etc......

Wat? The indicator is for the landing legs, not lights. And you can't see them from the cockpit, so an indicator makes sense. Same for Cargo Scoop - unless you have something targeted the indicator is the only way to know it is open.

Whereas for the Hardpoints this is what I see for stowed Wake Scanner:

And Deployed:

Not sure about you, but I think I can tell when hardpoints are deployed in the HUD... and it's a HUD - Heads Up Display - the idea of adding a duplicate indicator that takes my attention away from the main view seems ... pointless.

Anyway, carry on!

They are not landing lights, they are just headlights (landing lights are something quite different) - and no, it is not ALWAYS obvious they are on from an environmental rendering standpoint.

Hardpoint deployment does have an indicator, the deployed (and active grouped) weapon/utility state on the HUD. If you have no weapons fitted (a foolish idea IMO) and no utility items that require deployment to use then you need never deploy the hardpoints at all and the issue becomes a PBCAK.
