Well, not a solution but a "quick and dirty" workaround.
Take some sewing thread an a bit of tape and attach your own, permanent crosshair to your monitor.
I only did it for the horizontal line, since all i'm interested in is the "horizon" of my ship.
I have no issue with docking (well, never tried it in a Lakon so far).
But there were requests for some help in form of a reticule when weapons not out.
I, for my part, like to know what's above/below my horizon for other reasons
And for "Back to the drawing board!"... you still trying to get this pony drawing right?
Just remember to break out the trusty old Black&Decker level before taping... and calibrating the offset of whatever surface the monitor sits on.
Actually I'd like a center mark or pip on the hud, not so much for pad docking, but to make it easier to level my ship with the station portal. I find when I'm vertical thrusting to place my ship right in the center, not knowing if my pitch is level causes me a slight inconvinience sometimes; like if I'm pitched slightly up or down when I determine I'm vertically centered, my thrust vector will soon put me out of alignment... and often does. Not a big deal though.
