Modes Harry Potter and Zarek Null, plus a debate on Solo Play and the community.

This has probably already been done, but a bit more won't hurt.
I've been reading a lot about CMDRs Harry Potter and Zarek Null, elite dangerous' best players assets (Racers and Fuel Rats, you are not forgotten), and something struck me: the incredible stupidity/immaturity of a large amount of players.

1. Harry Potter is the arch-nemesis of the game, but also someone willing to take a stand for issues that matter.
Example: he changed the game plot single-handlely, by infiltrating Salome's bodyguard, even going as far as posting real/fake training videos to appear reformed, before finally killing her by surprise, causing Wargar to ditch entire pages of his writings.

This alone is genius, but just imagine the time he gave just to entertain others and himself, and pull off this incredible stunt.
This alone should earn him respect from others, even those who disagree.

But he's also trying to make the game funnier, by having its worst mistake removed: private group and solo play.
WHAT THE ****, FRONTIER? The galaxy is wide, tall and VERY EMPTY, you know it, we know it, and most of us won't encounter anyone unless we go to powerplay, CG or thargoid hotspots.
The truth is, most of the faction warfare is automated cause there ain't ENOUGH PLAYER DENSITY TO MAKE IT WORK.
Just look at your galactic map, powerplay, and see the best 10 prepared systems per factions : some have only 3.
Being a trader is the most boring thing in the world, cause there isn't anybody to pirate you if you're not in Sol.
Not talking about mining here, it's even worst and you can't make real money, the only good thing being the hazardous bots (very annoying, but it works).
Or passengers, who doesn't dream about transporting passengers that nobody will try to attack seriously?
Or bounty hunting, shooting helpless bots who'll boost away from you EVEN IF THEY OUTMANEUVER YOU IN CQC.
Playing solo is the worst experience ever: the entire rebuild mechanism of the game is useless, cause PVE bots are useless, and if you manage to die, you're either a beginner or the worst player ever.
I've got a fully upgraded anaconda with engineered stuff, did a 5000 ly go and back trip, i'm allied with all factions and upped the ranks, but i have only been ganked one time, and killed another player one time.

PVErs could easily switch to open, they probably won't meet anyone and i'm betting 1000$ right here that their game experience won't be modified by an inch for the vast majority.
If they think that their arguments are as valid as mine, let them follow on my bet, go to open, then we do a "yes/no" survey in 6 months and see who gets rich.
Anyways, you're fully certain your arguments have a basis in the actual reality of the game, isn't it?

So i'm saying:
  • Let's bet and survey in 6 months, and let the survey take the decision for us, a BINDING decision.
  • Alternatively, remove those functions right now, it's just a button to remove, universes are the same.
And thanks to Harry Potter for doing something about it. It's a space adventure simulator, not a farm smartphone application.
Enough of this "everybody does what he wants" stuff, it's already the case in open.
As a society or a nation, a game is a community of people, you don't just do what you want because you can, unless you haven't reached enough maturity to understand the concept of "common good".
Prove your arguments serve it, or drop them.

2. Zarek Null doesn't play in the same league, but he's one of the funniest comedians to ever take residence in a game. He should do professional theater.
His videos, all written with a lot of 2nd degree humor, will make you yourself with laughter.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHNyHFpzfLmaZjYjSG0jBOw/
His concept is simple: He is the overlord of Eravate, pay him respect or die. You could also die anyway because it entertains him, be sold to the thargoids, or having your favorite dock entrance blocked by his infamous anaconda.
Of course, you're angry when someone gank you in your starter pack sidewinder, or when you couldn't finish him because he used to combat log (over now), but you're missing the point.
Somebody has programmed a vocoder, edited videos and prepared countless dark lord-style speeches just to make you laugh, to entertain you and to fill all of this emptiness.
He even did it with gusto, writing entire "it's a trap" stories with classical music on the background, and fake special effects.
That somebody is a genius, and a generous-with-his-time genius.

But apparently, a lot of people in the community are either below 18, stuck in this "you have to be tough in high school" mentality, or totally lack 2nd degree understanding, which is a big problem for an adult.
I.T.'S. A. J.O.K.E, D.O. Y.O.U. G.E.T. I.T.?
Stop trying to mock him, you just appear as big morons cause HIS ENTIRE CHARACTER IS MADE TO PROVOKE LAUGHTER, even his occasional clumsiness.
So you get people trying to get to him personnaly for revenge, downvoting him on reddit, even trash-talking him because somebody has committed the unsufferable sin of writing an article about him (deleted).

But what the ****, people?
Don't you understand that if these two people leave, you'll be left with the emptiness and the grind?
That Frontier won't do a lot of scripted events, or hand-placed stuff, because they either don't want to, or don't know how?

In the end, what do you want?
Procedurally-generated systems, missions, bots, planets, loot, everything?
With nothing sticking out, never?
Continue like this, you already had it, and will get it back sooner than you think.

Sigh. Not this falsehood again. Its a pity you didn't actually read all of that polygon article, especially the updated amendment the editor added after they got the facts from D. Wagar himself, instead of a proven exploiter in HP. Ergo the rest of your post has zero credibility.

Really, he exploited a bug in the code?
Amazing!
So it's his fault, because he is a programmer at Frontier maybe?
*facepalm*

Direct quote from the article (Wargar speaking):
Wagar says that Chamberlain got the kill “fair and square.”

You know what, i'm going to bite and reply to this somewhat rant.

Those that play in solo do so deliberately. They simply do not want to play this as a multiplayer game, and just want the almost offline like experience of being able to play entirely on their own. These people comprise a large number of E:D's playerbase, who remember playing the previous games with no internet connection needed. They like single player games, and thats what solo does for them. Its not fair to force them into playing this as a multiplayer game.

Then theres people like me, who joined Mobius. We want a multiplayer game, but with an absolute cast-iron guarantee that we can walk into a CG with absolutely zero risk of PVP. We typically run shieldless and weaponless ships. Heck, I have played this since console release (on Xbox One), and am still "harmless" at combat. I don't even fight NPC's, I evade them every single time. I have a pure exploration build weaponless DBX as my main ship. Its also un-engineered because thats just a waste of time to me.

So yeah, if they built two "opens" - one PvE, and one PvP, it would solve a whole raft of problems.

Bonzodog: Try open, and you'll be able to do all of the above in the same way, all the time.

Only difference: You'll have to activate your shield 0,001% of the time in order to run.
Pretty challenging, isn't it?

PVErs could easily switch to open, they probably won't meet anyone and i'm betting 1000$ right here that their game experience won't be modified by an inch for the vast majority.

I mean, you're basically saying "Open is exactly like Solo except for a very small risk of getting randomly ganked."

Given that, why on earth would someone who is happy in Solo (or Mobius) want to switch? If the threat of gankers sounded fun to them, they'd already be in Open.

Thanks for the warning, but i've been reading the forums in silence and playing long enough to know who's right and whose positions don't match with the actual game.

A dangerous move for Frontier to move everyone to open, unless they are happy to run ED at a loss? Most players will probably go elsewhere once the big game hunters have killed them. That's what they are big game hunters killing players who have no wish or a ship capable of fighting back, due to the PVP wings.
If you made changes to address the imbalance and made wings up to Vulture class ships and type 9's with bigger shields and stronger hull then maybe but the explorers still have no chance.

But apparently, a lot of people in the community are either below 18, stuck in this "you have to be tough in high school" mentality, or totally lack 2nd degree understanding, which is a big problem for an adult.

Suggestion: if you tell people to stop mocking someone, don't mock them yourself, it only makes you as bad. Telling people to stop mocking HP and Sarek but then call them names and compare them to children, it defeats your purpose to create respect. Your post comes out as disingenuous.

Removal of Solo or Private is not happening.
Makes no sense to force gameplay (On line PvP) on people who don't want it.

Thanks for the time you put into the wall'o'text, though!
Bye!
