I thought Mac OS would have some sort of built-in feature that would make this easy and automatic (just click and the game loads up), but this doesn't appear to be the case.

As to your question, I am guessing you are talking about the Apple ][ version of Elite? I wish I could help you, but Macs are a mystery to me, perhaps one of the other forum members can advise you.
