has anyone else come across this issue

spent most of my high use matts. so i decided to head into the black and do a bit of exploring, mapping and matt collecting.
usually i scan system. find what im looking for and travel to planet and map it. i then land and start searching for matts.
after the planet has been mapped and has geological sites, no matts have been found on the planet apart from the geo sites.
i decided to try another but this time i didn't map, landed and searched. found all i needed and launched back to SC. mapped the planet and landed again. after mapping geo sites show up but no matts were found again.
seems like if geo sites are on planet no meteorites etc :( what happens are they all sucked into the geo sites. if so why do the only drop 1 and not more?

Never really come across this before.

I did notice no shootable rocks spawn near (several km) geological/biological sites, but I've seen them on planets. But I've not "roamed" recently.
I just use geological sites for a quick top up, or the awesome biological sites some 1600ly away to refill everything.

That's interesting observation, but I haven't noticed anything similiar. Apart from Geo sites, you just need to drive for some time (sometimes for quite a while though) and something will spawn eventually whether the planet is mapped, has Geo sites or not.

Yeah, agree with this. Pretty sure I was out looking for Jumponium recently, got bored with the geo sites so went to a crater and started shooting the outcrops etc.

i'm ashamed to say i wasted 2 hrs searching on a mapped planet found no matts. eventually gave up and moved on to another planet. didn't map and got the matts i needed.
i am approx 20,000ly from sol :) cmdr cosmic. maybe back in the bubble sometime this century :)
i will try again next time im playing and in need of matts.
thanx for the input cmdrs.

I find that materials on planets are found more commonly in craters. This was my last trip where I needed to hunt some specific materials (for premium SRV repair):

While I've obviously cut out the travelling in between, the total time for material collecting was around 60 minutes. I collected 70 premium repairs during that time (I had one when I started, and was short on three materials - all of which were available on the planet I was on).

I don't think the above planet had geological sites, but Kumay (which I'm currently circumnavigating) does, and I can also report no shortage of materials to be found on the surface there.

I have never left a geo site in the SRV and had bronzites, outcrops, etc. spawn. I don't recall how far I've driven in KMs, but I remember once going for 15-20 minutes out of curiosity.

If I hit a geological site and want to hunt regular rocks on the same planet, I now always fly away in my ship, enter super cruise, then drop down at least 100km away.

I'm not say I know for a fact SC or 100 km are necessary, but I have flown off in ship, not entered SC, then landed again about 50 km away only to find no rocks would spawn.

I'm totally convinced landing at a geological site prevents other rocks from spawning, and assume some sort of instance reset is needed before they will spawn again.

I have never before noticed this.
But I just did an experiment to check this out and it looks like what you say is true.
After landing on Geo site and travelling inland for quite some time it became obvious the planet was completely dead - no spawns of any kind. No rocks to mine, but also no skimmers, trespass zones, parked NPC ships, buildings... nothing that should spawn on a planet surface in human space.
Looking for another way to deal with the issue (other than to fly away in SC) I tried mode switching, but it didn't help. Quitting and restarting the game fixed it though.

Tl,Dr but please next time use a description in your topic instead of "anyone else has...?"
"this issue" should be explained.

ps. I guess it's RNG

No need to bug report this.
I, and many others , have come across this bug since Beta.
You land and find nothing, even after 3 hours. Sometimes going up to SC then back down fixes it for that planet, sometimes it doesn't.
