Engineers has anyone found any modified embedded firmware?

so I've been looking for this modified embedded firmware now for the better part of two days. I need 4 for rank 5 multi cannon upgrades.

Apparently these are found in settlement data points. but as yet I have found zero from around 20 different settlements of various sizes and securities. From what I can tell looking at online lists I have multiples of all other types of data from data points but again, none of these.

Are these just incredibly rare or am I doing something wrong here? Attacking these bases is good fun and all but all I've got to show for it is a wide range of bounties on my head across many different systems.

Sounds like you entered the twilight zone of the combo of ENG-Power play with all those bounties.

so after another approximately 5+ hours of game play today dedicated to finding these I now have two of the four that I need. It would appear that they are only obtainable from ++ and +++ high security bases. However they are not guaranteed which is highly irritating as soloing a +++ high security base can take up to an hour. Not mentioning the fact that if the server kicks you off whilst doing it the base resets and you log in to multiple turrets and skimmers of all sizes shooting you aka instant death. This happened on two occasions both of which was just after I was offered a "causing mayhem" mission I believe it was called during the assault. May be related.

Anyway, having recently finished uni exams I find myself with excessive free time but frankly find the time investment required to get ONE component for a single upgrade to be borderline ludicrous. I appreciate that these are rank 5 modifications and thus it should be harder to source the materials than the lower ranked mods but I fail to see how anyone with a half reasonable play schedule will get some of these higher mods this side of Christmas. As for getting any sort of 10% chance experimental modification? not even I have the time for that grind. The larger high security bases should be gaurenteed to have one of each of the rarer data types so you can at least feel like you are progressing towards something. As it stands I feel like I have wasted the past several hours.

I'm totally burnt out on these base assaults and will keep an eye out for missions as tihkal suggests for the next few days, besides I need more iron for SRV repairs - I used somewhere close to 30 in repairs soloing these bases.
