Has anyone fully 'fed' thargoids, multiple times?

This video proves that you can feed Thargoids enough meta-alloys to fill their, err, cargo holds?

Has anyone tried to do this multiple times, perhaps gaining some respect or otherwise with the Thargoids? I feel that there has to be some way to interact with them peacefully and receive something more than mere... not getting shot at.

There used to be an "imprint" value on the stats regarding Thargoid encounters but it is gone now. At least not visible. Think FD might have thrown the concept of non-hostile relations with the 'Goids to the trash bin. The imprint value went up when you fed the 'Goids enough goodies at a time (seem to recall it was a minimum of 6 units), not sure if it was only meta-alloys but that's what I did and managed to raise my imprint value.

It's so confusing. I'd like to interact with the 'Goids more, and peacefully rather. It's just been years and strongly feels like FD has given up on anything more than hostilities with the bugs. On top of this my squadron mates keep asking me to come bug hunting with them, which is likely happening soon as I want something else to do with the bugs than just sit in space and empty cargo hold.

Many uf us felt the same and were blamed by those who regarded the Thargs as a threat and fought them from the beginning. Later we had to realise that FD had not implemented a friendly interaction with the Klaxians who had arrived in search of the Oresrians. I hope for the next step which I think lies not too far ahead: the arrival of help against the Klaxians from the outside.

;)

They been getting their "Thargoid Hearts" back from me, during a hyperdiction - just not in huge quantities; one heart typically, maybe sometimes three.
Wether that has any effect remains to be seen, but so far them seem to be fine with it.

Outside of any minor love-tap incidents or being too close for too long during their tractoring, that is...

Oh thats what that thing was for, huh. It would have made more sense if after giving Thargoids meta-alloys they would like.. do something. In theory FDev could collect this data, and have it do something with this bubble infestation/incursion thing. They could have made Thargoids send out cryptic messages or something. Shooting at the Thargoid mainly is the content and the challenge, and not too bad at that.

I used to have this idea about Thargoid Wake Scanner, that would usually reveal destinations reasonably close, but then, sometimes far away, and rarely systems that would be shown as unknown, that you could visit, but they still "aren't there". Like a warped, different version of our galaxy.. Then you would have misjumps too. "Thargoid machine" would permit visiting some odd places also. A bit gamey and non-scientific perhaps, but it would have worked.

I don't think they collect those, they just don't want you to have them.

They'll have to keep collecting them as I won't stop delivering them.
Haven't seen any lore that tells me that I should deliver them anywhere for research or so.

Same concern I have with the meta-alloys btw; the only way to get those is to wreck Thargoid property (either doing it yourself, or doing it "by proxy" by buying them from the Darnielle's Progress market), so my guess is they don't really like us having their meta-alloys either.

Don't know where it is, but there's a whole post going over thargoid-cargo interactions in detail.

Basically,

> Guardian cargo - thargoid gets aggro'd
> Thargoid hearts/tissue - thargoid demands you drop them, but doesn't collect them.
> Thargoid sensor/probe/link - thargoid demands you drop them, collects them.
> Meta-Alloys - thargoid would like you to drop them, but won't kill you if you don't. According to that OP, thargoids seemed to yearn for meta-alloys like we yearn for credits or materials, but won't kill for them.

> Thargoid hearts/tissue - thargoid demands you drop them, but doesn't collect them.
My experience has been they get angry and aggressive when not dropping the hearts. And they do collect the Hearts, every time.
I got over 30 hyperdictions recorded, and they've always picked up their hearts.

Above one of my latest hyperdictions by the Thargoids. A single Hydra gets to collect the remains of three of it's colleagues.

Klaxians, Osresians... Pure speculation for now, nothing ingame says so and we do not know if they are the same as the one mentionned in the books, in which they are already regarded as a possibility and not a full-on truth. Part of the lore, not part of the game, yet at least.

Back on topic, wasn't it Jmanis that made a well documented thread about thargoid feeding and their reactions? I can't find it right now, i'll keep looking.

Edit: There it is ^^

I like it to see that you can actually influence what happens when you get hyperdicted. Hyperdictions so far have looked like a pretty static scripted affair. Anyway, I want peaceful contact for getting my hands on their tractor beam alone already. Goodbye limpets trashcans.

Not pure speculation but the base of the game.

Yes, back to topic. Feeding Thargs with things has been done thousands of times by now with no effect other than they take it. FD has not implemented in-game communication with the Thargs so far.

They do collect them.

And I'm betting they'd react the same in a large quantity as they do for tissue samples (which is the same as Meta Alloys)

Seems like a good time to repost this (locked) thread: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/398834-Thargoid-Cargo-Reactions-Revisited

tl;dr you can attract thargoids with large quantities of:
- Meta Alloys
- Tissue Samples
- Sensors/links/probes
- Thargoid "Cargoes" ie. Resin, Biological Samples, Technology Samples.
- (probably, I never tested it) Thargoid Hearts

At one point it was just Meta Alloys and Escape Pods and Links/Probes/Sensors, but then it changed to include all thargoid cargoes.

Don't forget -- a "bio-mech alloy" as hull plating would be nice too. Coupled with a few optional internal slots filled with Thargoid Hearts.
And, last but not least, the Thargoid Pulse Shield that instantly creates a full shield out of nothing, but gradually decays over time once activated.

Would be great stuff for stealth builds!

My reason for dropping hearts for Thargoids is that...
- Hearts exist, and they drop after you complete a "boss fight" with an Interceptor.
- Large 16t Corrosion Resistant Racks are available for purchase; so FDev wants us to carry corrosives in bulk during this conflict.
- Hyperdictions exist, Interceptors are designed by FDev to scan and protest at the "illicit" cargo.
- Shutdown Field Neutralizers exist; and allow players to make a statement during a Hyperdiction.

The way I see it, during a hyperdiction you can show that you can trump their ace, you can beat their kind -- and you choose not to be aggressive; at times.
And that you're willing to "return the dead" or "return the warrior's blade" - or at least an analogy of that type of cultural thing Humanity has.
Seeing how, according to the Codex, they keep the scars on the Interceptors (despite having regeneration tech) -- they just might have that "respect for the dead/blade"-thing applied to the Interceptors.

Nice ideas. Full blown Thargoid tech broker please.

So you do confirm that being "base of the game" (aka "Lore") means they arent ingame right now?
You have the right to believe any theory you want, you don't have the right to spread a theory while presenting it as as a blatant truth without a single proof as that is call lying and misinforming.

This exact debate has been held countless times on these forums, and nobody ever managed to show a proof or even a hint that these Thargoids we encounter today are part of one of the two clans that humanity MIGHT have already encountered (again, treated as a possible lie in the books).
You are declaring something humongus that is in opposition with what can be found ingame, you're the one required to prove your point here. Go on, I'll be waiting as usual ;)

No false "back on topic" for me, I just wanted to answer you with simple yet solid arguments.

Yup. There's absolutely nothing in game to prove the existence of Oresians or Klaxians. Understand it's a popular idea, but there is no in game. Arguably there is proof they *aren't* in the game, given the historical file diving someone did showing there was a "Thargoid" faction. Not klaxian or oresian, just Thargoid. And nothing in drews books matters unless it's in the game, since many external narrative sources including preceding games have been retconned or removed.

Ooh, I really would love those. Hope it would be fun to get the materials for them, not a total slog.

FD can do exactly what they did with the Guardians, just don't make me do the same damn thing over and over again - one trip to each kind of site and that's all!
