Has anyone tried defecting?

Just thinking if i defect then your former allies come after you for a while. So seeing as they are now the 'enemy' does that mean if i hang around and kill a load i can get 15 merits a time before heading off to my new bestest buddies?!

I do defecting several times and was hunted by Zachary and Antal's agents. <--- Experimental, researching process. Also my first mistakes.
But i'm again allied with Antal.

I Defected just yesterday because french trads for ranking wasnt right ( not saying wich item i'll unlock after 4 weeks ) and i thought FD dismissed special PP items....
So... i applied for Torval, then a friend told me his english version of the game was annoucing items back and That Torval would give a mining laser ( as said in beta notes ).

I just lost 1 week and 1 day in Torval, great.... So to answer your question, 5 mins after i defected, i got chased by one of Torval's Python. i Killed him and got 200Cr bounty reward....

I'm getting interdicted by Torval's ships 2 or 3 times a days. just about the same rate that Pirate NPC when trading. I had Python, Eagle, and small stuff, never met any conda.

defecting is actually a good way to rank up btw. usually you have to wait until the end of the week for your merits to kick in but if you defect you gain the levels instantly without having to wait. It still costs you 50% of your merits though so if you want rank 5 you will need 20k merits
