Has anyone tried Discovering Space 2?

Although there is no gameplay here I gotta say I think Frontier could learn from this developer. Space and planets are alot nicer here than in ELite as far as I'm concerned. It also gives gives me a taste of how it can be when we have atmospheric landings. You space lovers should try it!
I just wish I could map the hardcoded gamepad controls to my hotas somehow.

I don't know, maybe Joy2key could work? I used to map keyboard-keys to controller buttons (x360 pad), so I don't know whether it'd actually work with a HOTAS.

I played around with Discovering Space when I bought my Rift, about 6 months ago. I'm not sure if they have revised it since then. At the time I thought it was pretty cool, but I wanted to fly freely in a more playable way, which brought me back over to ED. It's totally worth it for the tours, but I think if you just want to explore, it's better to get into ED and unlock the Sol permit (unless they've done a lot of revision since then). :)

which HMD are you using?

For gameplay i agree, but for just flying around I prefer discovering space2 due to the visuals and you actually get to fly your spaceship down to atmospheric planets (which is not possible right now with ED).

Huh, so either I completely missed that it could do that, or they've added it since I last played with it. I might have to give it another go!
