I was thinking of upgrading my 32" BenQ monitor to a 38" widesceen monitor.
I like the 21:9 format and occasionally use it on the BenQ (which is possible with a custom 2560x1097 resolution).
The new LG 48" OLED tv looks to be an excellent monitor replacement..
But I don't know if it would support a custom resolution of say 3840x1600, which is 21:9 on the 38" monitors, but on a bigger TV screen .
In fact in 21:9 format the OLED would be equivalent to a 46" 21:9 monitor - but with 1.5" black bands above and below the picture.
The height of the TV is not much more than the BenQ, which stands quite high on my desk, whereas the TV would sit quite low, this means the picture centre would be about at the same level.
The only downside might be the flat screen, rather than curved on the monitors. They cost about the same money anyway.
So, has anyone tried to get a widescreen picture on the 48" LG ? (or any size bigger in fact)
And is there anything else I should take into account ?
