Has anyone with an OR VR gone from a R9 390X to a NV1080?

As the title suggests. I am dissatisfied with the graphical performance of the R9. Its blocky and things look like 8bit at times. Sure I get the fps in general, but I prefer looks over performance because I am shallow. :) The edge strobing and poor edge definition is ruining ED VR for me. Its works fine in other games. VR is ace looking. Only in ED is it poor. In 2D the card is ace. I can run in Ultra at >90fps with few if any issues. The graphics are superb. But as soon as I go OR, it looks a bit pony. Ive used Kalis wonderful tool, and all the other great tips here to get it as good as I can but its still more pony to look at than that horse faced bint hopkins.

I understand that the R9 390 is just a factory clocked 280. But before I press the button on a 1080, I'd like to know it it is worth it and if the graphics will be as good or almost as good and defined as in 2d.

Hi.

Yesterday I jumped from a 390 (standard, non-X model) to a 1080 Strix. I'm still dealing with the settings as I can't find a clear answer about the relationship between the Oculus debug SS, the SS inside the game and the HDM quality also inside the game.

Generally speaking, I must say that with 1.5 in SS (oculus debug) my Rift is something else. Somehow cleaner, crispier and above all, a much, much better experience. It's obvious and truly noticeable when you return to the 1.0 SS.

Being said that, I hope to find the ideal ED settings for the 1080 soon. (It's still a way better experience than with the 390).

Well my rift has fallen over. No visuals and orange led instead of white led. So off to support...

Worked fine last night and the Oculus Honme reports all is fine.

Edit: Fixed it. For some odd reason my pc booted with an old radeon driver. 16.6 instead of the 17.1.2. No idea why though.
