There is nothing that stops you from doing that, other than the fact you will probably not reach it in your lifetime. The star system map is seamless, players have done a lot of tests on that even as early as alpha2.
Excellent,
And the stations will appear in normal flight? I've noticed that it's impossible to catch a station that's moving away from your ship on it's orbital path, since it's moving much faster than your ship can chase.
I will have to test out what happens if you travel towards a station as it travels toward you in it's orbit, will it come closer until you're 100 clicks away and then I would start to move relative to the station?
I had the computer do some maths for me (I'm an arts grad, go figure
and it looks like it would take 27 hours to travel 100 light seconds at 300 m/s.
I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed for time acceleration in single player, or failing that, a time acceleration mod or a speed increase mod at some point down the line after release.
I love the idea of (every once in a while) consulting the galaxy map/orrery or whatever it's gonna be called and plotting a route to intercept a planet's orbit and flying there with no aids, although I'm not sure I have the stamina for real-time! I'd definitely do it at a factor of 10 though.
Don't get me wrong I really like the implementation of supercruise as it stands and obviously understand that for online play, time acceleration is out.
