Has heat management changed in 1.3.06? Python + 3xC3 beams = HEAT!

I fly a Python with 3xC3 beam lasers and A-rated power & distributor. Have done for a long time.

This configuration is able to fully discharge all 3 beams to zero energy without tripping any heat issues - gets to about 97% but then I'm out of laser energy and by the time they've recharged the heat is back down so I can go for a full laser dump on my target again. Rinse and repeat.

Since installing 1.3.06, my lasers are barely half discharged before I'm overheating. Something has definitely changed. Checked release notes again - can't see anything about additional heat balancing.

Anyone else getting increased heat issues since 1.3.06?

Everything fine in my Python, shoot some Pirates about an Hour ago. But I don't know if that is saying much, I wasn't really at the limit with my Energy usage so a little increase would go by unnoticed by me.

i have 3xC3 burst and 2 beam turrets and i noticed heat was higher than before. Not un-manageable (had to have beams active and completely discharge capacity to get to 100% heat - A modules), but, yeah, its higher. My impression is the burst where the source for me as heat was reducing as usual with the 2 beam turrets active only.

I could have sworn my Clipper is overheating a lot more but thought it was just my imagination, using shield cell banks really gives you a burnt behind with all guns blazing too!

Any chance you were at a new/different RES?

The background heat changes considerably when fighting closer to Gas Giants, suns, brown/white dwarves. I had this a while back with a ring around a brown dwarf and there was a 10% difference between resting heat at the RES near the centre of the ring to the RES at the outside.

Hm, this could explain why was I overheating once with only 2 beams - python as well. Although that was in 1.3 beta, so THAT could explain it too :D

I'm torn between admiration of the game for such a granular effect, and making a really ignorant comment about rings.

Cheers, this must have been it. Thought I was at a familiar RES but I was at a gas giant. Hadn't experienced any heat like it before so thought it was a new feature. Went back to an old familiar RES and everything is OK.

One thing i've noticed, obviously due to the massive improvement in AI capability, is that my ship's never given as much of a break due to the more continual barrage from enemy ships

So assuming weapons fire hitting shields generates heat as does your own weapons discharging .... it could be that we're not as heat efficient anymore

Its not as simple as it used to be .... but thats what we all (mostly) asked for .... so its just part of new combat

I have noticed this as well...makes things pretty challenging/fun! In my dual pusle Vulture with rank A power plant, using a shield cell could lead to taking damage because of heat.
Also, the lighting (at least in 1.2) was also very pretty...
