Has Megaship looting been balanced YET!??

Not seen it listed anywhere, has the megaship looting cargo been balanced enough yet, still see no reason to take the risk of damaging your ship, getting bounties for such a poor low credit cargo. what happen to the balance thing Fdevs???? you really need to jump on this asap.

Not the first not the last. Unfortunately.

The same thing happened with Search and Rescue. There is no reason whatsoever to do it, apart from 1) role play and 2) just to see what's it all about.

Risk vs reward balance was always a bit ridiculous in certain aspects of the game, ESPECIALLY with the new features added.

I would love to see increased reward for looting a Mega Ship, make it worth our while FDEV please! In fact the whole smuggling and black market mechanics could use a massive overhaul, as it's been in it's most basic form since release, where all the other parts of the game seen at least SOME improvements...

Why this isn't used to:
- Have missions to steal loot from procgen Megaships in mission-related USS; and
- Provide tip-offs or other information leading to temporarily-static procgen things from hacking data points; and
- Have missions to hack various systems such as the turrets or similar

... I'm really not sure :/

How do you find the mega ships? (Excluding the use of sites and tools outside the game?)

Agree rewards seem pitiful. Not sure why resource would be decleicated to developing a feature that is essentially of no use. Great idea and potential for the future. Unimpressive implementation. Parallels with the first Guardian scanning mission.

Because they always implement this that way. Basics first, then expand upon them.

While it's working quite well as a development model (IMHO), the timeframes between implementing the basics and expanding them are WAY too long, which is quite often a source of frustration within the community.

Here's hoping for Q2 and Q3 updates...

Good point rootstrat.

But how do we find mega ships?

Frontier have some very very odd views and ways of doing things. Personally I don't think much will be done with them, so many things have been added by not expanded upon why would this be any different?

Once the number of Cmdr’s looting the megaships hits double figures, Frontier will have some solid figures to move forward regarding balancing. [haha]

Flimley.

Part of the reason for this is because they don't implement the basics and then expand on it, they implement the basics of 1 system, then the next, then the next, and every once and awhile throw in a small expansion, until players get tired of the underdeveloped content, at which point they abandon it.

It would be much better imo if they would focus on 1 thing at a time and try and make it as good as can be before moving on to the next item, instead of this "bare minim but we'll expand on it 'later'" routine.

There is a certain other space game that uses that development model and look where it is now ;)

If they did that, we'd had for example super complex space station constructions with multiple models, textures, audio, lots and lots of features... and a completely empty galaxy. And it would be called Elite Dangerous Alpha 3.0 ;)

Anyway, we're in the offtopic territory now, so better get back on it...

Soooo, megaships loot balance, yes yes yes, need to boost the rewards! FDEV, please look back at Search and Rescue and the feedback you got for that and consider upping megaships loot value to actually make it worth our while.

Please also consider that this is an AWESOME opportunity for playing together, either couple of ships with different roles (hacker, looter, fighter) or multi crew (turrets and fighter to defend, the helm hacks and loots) and take that suggestion into consideration as well (aka perhaps some megaships would be well guarded, but also had LOTS of expensive stuff for a wing of players to profit from).

I don’t know anything much about looting megaships, and unlikely to bother really.
But, don’t they spew out literally hundreds of canisters of palladium and suchlike, alongside materials and some rares for good measure? Oh what fun it would be to scramble around trying to scoop those rares before your wing mates do :D

flimley

Yes, OP, there absolutely needs to be vastly greater payouts in terms of cargo/materials for looting a megaship.

I say this, because I occasionally might want to role play the ATR, just to catch the player who becomes wanted grabbing loot. But with the paltry payouts it becomes a low-risk, low reward activity.

There should be lots of really high value stuff, and the player should have to judge how long she/he should linger to collect just the item they need, or be greedy and try to grab it all. And provide opportunities for PvP other than pure pirating or hunting wanted players in anarchy systems.

Megaships should be honey pots-- beware the bees!

there is huge potential for loads of aspects of the game Frontier seem to be missing many tricks, search & rescue adding salvage, to some of the more simple game play, it's very annoying and frustrating watching a potential great game start to waver down hill, Cmon Frontier wakey wakey.
