Has the AI been changed recently?

Maybe it's just random, but it really feels like NPCs are very often SUPER passive lately. I was bounty hunting yesterday and it seems they barely fired a shot at me. Instead they were just flying defensive. Many of them just ran away completely. Nothing too special here. I was just flying an FAS with multis and a plasma accelerator. It's not like I was shooting their weapons off with missiles or anything.

I had it down as a fluke and today a wanted, deadly FDL did the same thing. He flew kinda normal (didn't really try too hard to get weapons on but at least was flying aggressive and firing occasionally), but once his shields dropped ALL BETS WERE OFF. Poor guy was flying out of his mind to try and get away from me. As a test, I let him regen his shields to see if maybe that was the issue. Even when they were back up, he still was running scared.

Has anyone else noticed this or am I just taking crazy pills? (again)

I haven't seen that, but I'd kinda like to.
I hate bringing pirates down to 15% hull and have them still yelling, "This can all end if you drop 5t of cargo!"

I've noticed they try to out maneuver you now, which is funny when a clipper or Conda try to dog fight an imperial fighter rather than reverse thrust

It is random, while in high res a day ago, it was pitiful, last night I was getting hammered, didn't see rebuy screen, but repair costs were certainly up.

And the interdiction's for an empty cargo bay are getting tiresome, I had a deadly Conda interdict me, I thought you're gonna get yours, hell no, once it finished the scan it started to leave, I boosted hard shooting the hell out of it, but it did not turn back, just jumped out.

I'm not much into combat apart from the occasional CG. FAS NPCs are the most annoying and sometimes go on ramming sprees, so I thought I'd try some else, zero throttle and just turn the ship to get a fix with my weapons. Sad part is that it kinda works. They just fly around within effective weapon distance trying to look like they're doing something useful with their maneuvers while I blast away.

This was with a Corvette and Cutter, and I guess it would've worked just as well in 2.3, just that I never thought about it before since the 2.4 is more annoying than fun to shoot at.

They might be sulking ... because of the attention Thargoids are getting

Time to kill is up, I'm burning more ammo for the same kill. Also they are displaying more agility and more of the top ranks are better equipped with SCB's and better armor. Rails also seem to be more abundant.

The lower ranked ones still light up quite quickly though you get some of them that certainly fight above their ratings.

There is a random factor, some CZ's are subdued and the greens more helpful. At times, the greens disappear and you're on your own and everybody has the bead on you.

But they have been turned up in capabilities.

Seems like the interdictions are harder noe

lol, no, they still can't chase for crap. Also I do like the "this will all end if you give me 15.7899999789778 credits worth of cargo" as they fly crazy ivan's and refuse to engage unless you are stationary.

I dare say a change to the docking computer, which I believe shares underlying code with AI, has caused our silicon friends to a) ram just a crazy bunch because they simply must scan and b) take up shouty pacifism at commanders as an extreme sport.

I was testing an adjustment to my Python build the other night and they seemed fine to me, even maybe a bit better than I remembered but maybe I just haven't flown my Python for a while.

Took me down to 11% hull. In a Cobra 3.

Maneuvering, and missile shots into his power plant did it.

Somewhere, in Real Life, I trained for that sort of thing.

Still, pure luck.

Grab a video and pass it to QA team if you meet such NPCs too often.

Pirate NPCs I meet are usually quite direct - 5 sec warning, then opening fire.
