The Hastati Astral Liberation Party is a confederate union of traders, militia members, political activists, and star-pilots with the common goal of abolishing slavery in the Empire and protecting those that cannot fend for themselves. Built upon the science, war, and distrust of the Empire's past, this squadron is now helping create the most booming economies and safest space-ways in its small corner of the galaxy. Originally focused purely on slavery they quickly took up the banner of all those suffering oppression under the galactic superpowers, but while opportunities look bleak to many, H.A.L.P. seeks to better the lot of every member reguardless of where they come from. Hello I am the Centurion of HALP. This is to be a thread focused on recruitment and raising awareness for H.A.L.P. There will be semi-regular Logbook style updates from myself (and possibly other members) on the ongoing effort of improving the Empire and abolishing slavery. The Hastati Astral Liberation Party has finally succeeded in obtaining it's squadron licence. After years of hard work and trying to influence things from backstage we have finally reached a modicum of legitimacy. H.A.L.P. is still a rather disparate group with backers all over Empire space, but with little central organization or leadership, a problem I soon hope to rectify. Currently we are building financial strength and a small military force in the system of HIP 20277. We took a small detatchment out to assist local anti-piracy operations to try and make a name for ourselves.

Current party leadership outside of dirt-side operatives consist of myself, Aquilifer's Enaisi and Kyne, and a promising new recruit Sidervib. Now we just need to recruit more like-minded individuals. We will prevent the Empire from stagnation, but also prevent it from repeating the folly of our past.

30 DEC 3304 - H.A.L.P. COMMITS TO SENDING AID TO CALENNERO

Hastati Astral Liberation Party has accepted several contracts with Calennero State Industries to send bulk shipments of Medicine and Food to the corporations home system of Calennero. A recent outbreak in the system has left aid-workers and medical staff low on supplies and morale. H.A.L.P. has has committed to delivering over 500 thousand tonnes of supplies to the system. Preliminary results seem to be already helping the infected zones. And the recent acquisition of two more starship captains has further emboldened HALP's efforts in the region.

Combat operations against the pirate forces in the RES sites around the 7th planet of HIP 20277 continue to show promising results, with rogue elements showing a marked decrease in influence around the sector.

Checked out the Inara squadron page and the only way I can get to it was to go to another squadron and click on the "other squadrons" link at the bottom left column. I wish you the best of luck building your squadron and faction.

Hi, thanks for the advise. I have one set up but wasn't sure if off site links were ok, I'll edit the top post to include that info!

02 JAN 3305 - HALP announces plans to expand into local politics and governance of the sector

The Hastati Astral Liberation Party announced today that we are looking into expanding our organization into local sector governance. In a statement to the press of Fabian City Aqulifer Kyne said:

"H.A.L.P. is a place for pilots to come and support those that don't have anyone to speak for them. But we need a platform for everyone, not just those that can fly. So we are currently raising funds and recruiting those that would be interested in making H.A.L.P. a permanent faction in the sector."

We plan on releasing a manifesto of sorts detailing exactly what the Party's goals are, and the methods we will use to attain them. But in short we wish to make our sector, and maybe one day the entire Empire, a better place.

This comes on the eve of Calennero State Industries, a long term supporter (financially if not politically) of HALP, anouncing efforts to expand into yet another system. The VP of the megacorp Kenzie Garcia expressed a cautious optimism on the expansion, citing H.A.L.P.'s recent assistance with a rogue influenza outbreak as essential to making the plan succeed. CSI's stock is the highest it has been in years, and the economic forecast looks good leading into the first quarter of the new year.

I hope to get back to you soon with more updates on H.A.L.P., but until then fly safe and do well.

05 JAN 3305 - H.A.L.P. Announces Immediate severance from the Empire in support of human rights, pledges support to Aisling Duval's efforts.

The Hastati Astral Liberation Party announced in a surprising move, shortly after convening it's joint committee, that it will sever all official ties to the Empire in protest against gross human rights violations and the continued support of slavery. We will no longer willingly work for a system that not only allows but actively supports the subjugation of fellow humans, especially in light of the current threat of a full scale Thargoid invasion. The Party will relocate all assets and political affiliates to the Khakya system on the fringes outside of direct Empire control. In an official statement Magister Evangelina Battle, a mid level party official, stated that "H.A.L.P. cannot sit idly by while so much pain and suffering goes ignored by the powers in charge, therefore we have unanimously decided that we will concentrate our power in Khayka to make a refuge for anyone, regardless of status."

Additionally, the Party released a formal declaration of support to Princess Aisling Duval for her bid to the throne citing full support for her ideals of freedom and acceptance. The party openly calls for commanders of Empire and Independent allegiance alike to flock to the system in support of its efforts.

07 JAN 3305 - H.A.L.P. makes statement on local drug trafficking and neighboring war.

The Hastati Astral Liberation Party seems to have taken umbrage with both the Boman Company and the Drug Cartel in their neighboring system of Forsina. Notable efforts have been made which are beginning to sway the war in the Forsina system against Boman Company control, while also cracking down on the illegal drug trade being run by the Forsina Cartel. In response to questions from the media, Magister Evangelina Battle had the following to say: "The Hastati Astral Liberation Party takes a hardline stance against dangerous narcotics being provided throughout the Bubble. Such dangerous drugs can only lead to addiction, which is no better than financial slavery, as well as suffering for those affected and their families. In weakening the hold of the Forsina Drug Cartel, we hope to reduce the economic influence of the Cartel and slowly push them away from local systems. The Party finds the existence of such groups on the fringes of the known space to be harmful to colonization efforts at best, and damaging to the lives of every person in the local systems at worst." Magister Battle went on to elaborate on the Boman Co, citing their relative complicity with the Drug Cartel's actions: "If our group can use three or four combat pilots to keep the Drug Cartel's actions limited, there's no reason that the Boman Company should have allowed them to exist for as long as they have in the first place." When asked about suspicions of a link between the groups, Battle stated that there's no evidence, and no reason to pursue, such claims. "The Hastati Astral Liberation Party is not an investigative group, nor do we claim to have any information beyond what we have stated here. We simply desire a more open space, free to travel without the fear of the criminal element. If the Boman Company cannot assure that for systems under its control, we would be happy to do the job for them. Our field operatives have done wonderful work in these last few days already, and we look forwards to the continued support of the people in the days to come."

Battle could not be reached for further elaboration, citing matters of paperwork.

Commander Kyne, one of the Party's founding members and the acting head of their combat division, recently returned from a trip to the Forsina system and was approached while handing in completed missions. Although he seemed eager to remove himself from the public eye, our reporters did manage to get a few nuggets of information behind the group's individual motives.

"I don't like those drugs," Kyne stated in response to the selection of the Cartel as a threat. "You wanna go off and smoke and drink yourself into oblivion, by my guest. There's plenty of space out there for you to be dumb in. But trying to sell these things to people far away from proper protection is predatory." Kyne seemed particularly confident about HALP's capacity to change local starways. "Our pilots may be new to the black, but right now we're probably the best hope folks have out here. If anyone out there wants to help us out, drop on by."

When asked about his reasons for siding against Boman Company after their recent embroilment in a struggle for power over the Forsina System, Kyne laughed and started walking back towards the hangars. "I can't say one way or the other for the rest of us, but they blew up my favorite ship. Now I'm gonna blow up all of theirs. I'd say it's business, but none of them have bounties... yet." Reporters could not question the pilot further before he announced he was, "late to get back off the ground."

Positioned on the edge of Empire space, HALP seemingly came from nowhere just last week after a rapid increase in influence once their group officially came together. Their home system of Khakya is far from the center of Imperial rule, a yoke that the group recently tossed away, but close enough to support Aisling's actions while remaining open to go as they please. The decision to take on the Forsina Drug Cartel is in line with their previously announced support of Princess Aisling Duval's claim for the Imperial throne. It seems that the grassroots movement is gaining followers at a pace that alarms some of the smaller factions nearby, however whether or not any of the major players in the Empire have taken notice of the group remains to be seen. Two things are clear, though:

11 JAN 3305 - Boman Co. Massacres Civilians Aid Convoy in Retaliatory Strike

H.A.L.P. Leadership has recently been made aware that a relief convoy, sent to the neighboring system of Forsina, that was carrying medical supplies to Dunyach Relay has been destroyed by operators flying under the direction of Boman Co. The convoy, a group of twelve Lacey class Type-6 Transporters with light escort was destroyed to the man. The only reason we even know of the attack is a unincrypted FLASH priority message deliverd 2 days ago by one of the convoy's fighter escorts. That message is repeated in full below. With the overt agression of Boman Co. the Hastati Astral Liberation Party has decided to support the Khakya Values Party, normally at odds with H.A.L.P. in political matters, in their current war efforts in the system. Though the alliance is by nature temporary we must defend ourselves from any overt signs of aggression. We wan't peaceful cooperation between all factions, but when attacked we will respond with force.

16 JAN 3305 - PROVISIONAL CONSTITUTION OF THE HASTATI ASTRAL LIBERATION PARTY

The H.A.L.P. Joint Committee has released a Provisional Constitution to serve as a manifesto of their intentions as well as to offer membership to any willing system government. The text of the Constitution is included below.

There is a cancer growing in the heart of the Empire. This cancer started as an honorable way for citizens to absolve themselves of the shame of debt. This cancer is known as slavery. The honorable state of indenturing ones self to another to pay a debt quickly became a way to institutionalized coerced labor among the less fortunate of Empire society. Those that live in privilege are ever increasingly exploiting those without options. The proliferation of this disease has turned a once honorable opportunity into an open sore on Imperial society. This, as well as other exploitations such as perpetual prison colonies, persecution of foreigners, and the bleeding of conquered worlds at the detriment of their populace must stop.

We, the people of the outer rim of civilized space, have decided to form a government in exile from the Empire. Each system acting in its sovereign and independent capability will come together for joint protection of those exploited by the major powers blocs of the Empire, Federation, and so called Alliance of Independent States. Each system shall adhere to the following articles, but in all other ways be independent and left to their own affairs.

Article I

The Hastati Astral Liberation Party is a confederate government of independent systems under the Joint Committee's leadership of appointed individuals. Each system will appoint 5 officials.

1. A military representative that will vote on matters related to mutual defense of the H.A.L.P. Confederacy and advise the Committee on offensive operations should they be necessary.

2. A trade minister that will vote on matters of trade relations and commerce.

3. A political minister that will vote on domestic affairs of their home system and determine treaties between member systems.

4. A industry minister to vote and handle on financial and industry matters not directly related to inter-system trade.

5. A non voting civilian representative elected in a direct election of all his or her system's citizens that holds veto power over any of the fore mentioned members. In the case of a veto three members total of the five may chose to override the veto.

Article 2

Slavery and indentured servitude are illegal in any and all member systems, and in any stations or planetary bases that a member system may control outside of their immediate system. Any slave or indentured servant seeking asylum in H.A.L.P. territory will be granted the full protections that the member system can provide.

Methods of obtaining citizenship into the Confederacy is left to the individual systems, but must be offered in some way to anyone that wishes to attain citizenship.

Article 3

The Joint Committee shall have the power to perform or enforce the following actions

1. Organize and maintain a navy for the joint protection of its member systems. As well as to declare war, grant letters of marque and reprisal, and make rules concerning captures in space and on planetary bodies.

2. To establish laws governing intersystem trade. Intrasystem trade, however, is off limits except with the support of a 90% vote by committee members.

3. To provide for the punishment of individuals breaking Confederate law and to define and punish piracies and felonies committed on the space lanes, and offenses against the law of systems.

4. To make all laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into execution the foregoing powers.

5. Each member system shall provide 20% of its total profits from all endeavors to the Joint Committee for uses deemed appropriate by its Confederate members.

6. The Joint Committee must disclose all expenditures to its member systems except those deemed sensitive or necessary to the running of the Confederacy in the time of war.

7. The Joint Committee shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

8. To form a supreme court composed of one elected judge from each system to determine the validity and applicability of laws passed by the Joint Committee. The court may not create or alter laws passed by Committee vote but may strike down laws that go against this constitution. A supreme court justice may be removed only by a 75% majority vote by all Committee members or by the court justices themselves, or by a unanimous medical tribunal of certified doctors that deem a justice unfit for service.

9. The Committee shall vote on a executive tribunal to act as the leadership of the Confederacy in matters of foreign affairs and implementing laws passed by Committee. No Tribunal member may serve more than 6 consecutive two standard year terms or 12 total terms. Tribunal members must be or have been elected Committee members and be citizens of their respective system.

10. All powers not specifically stated remain to the member systems of the confederacy.

11. The constitution may be amended by a 70% majority vote of all committee members. Or in times of war a temporary amendment may be passed for the security of the Confederacy by a simple majority plus one. The temporary amendment will be voted upon again each stellar quarter and must meet the same requirements to remain in effect. If a temporary amendment passes with 70% of the committee's vote it becomes permanent.

12. Amendments may be revoked by a 75% majority vote of all committee members.

13. The headquarters for the Joint Committee shall be held in the Khakya system unless moved by an 80% majority vote by committee members.

Article 4.

The superpower blocs have through their exploitation of the galactic market given a weakened character to the poor and disadvantaged of every system under their control. It is the intended purpose of the Hastati Astral Liberation Party to form a Confederacy of states willing to stand up for every citizen of their member stems regardless of race, religion, social status, gender, sexuality, or any other determinate factor. The only factor of importance to the Confederacy is the citizenship, or prospective citizenship of its residents. All humans are equal under the eyes of this Confederacy and no person shall rule over another except in the terms of governance, determined by election of its members.

27 Jan 3305 - Orbital Station Secured

H.A.L.P. is pleased to announce that after a brief conflict with the oppressive Boman Co we have wrested control of the orbital station Plaskett Landing. Boman Co ceeded control of the station after the efforts of our brave pilots made it absolutely clear that HALP will accept nothing less than complete victory against any faction that does not treat every person under its influence with equality.

Plaskett Landing, which orbits the 4th planet of the Khakya system, will be open to any and all pilots that wish to take part in fair trade opportunities, as well as mission running. In a brief statement Chancellor Palmer Shaffer of Hastati Astral Liberation party said that "While we regret that negotiations deteriorated into armed conflict, we are dedicated to providing a refuge for the oppressed and needy. Plaskett Landing is just the first step in providing a safer and more equal galaxy."

31 JAN 3305 - Centurion Karina Ivanovich's speech to Chancellor Palmer Shaffer and the Confederate Joint Committee

Comrades, men an women of the Hastati Astral Liberation Party, Committee Members, commanders and political allies, freed slaves, independent star-pilots, and fellow members of the Confederacy. On behalf of the Confederate Government, our Naval Forces, and our Liberation Party I am greeting you and congratulation you on the continued effort to provide a galaxy free from the overt oppression of people by Mega Corporations and the galactic Hegemony of the Empire and Federation.

Compatriots, it is in arduous circumstances that we are to-day celebrating our capture of Plaskett Landing from the despotic forces of Boman Co. Their stubborn refusal to discuss the rights and freedoms of the workers under their control led us to taking drastic measures. How is it, some of you may ask, that a Party and Confederacy that professes the ideals of peace and freedom for all mankind can do such a heinous deed as to declare war on another entity? I answer to you this. Oppression and subjugation of the people happens all across the galaxy. The concepts of slavery, tenant workers, and indentured servitude have been institutionalized all across the Empire, and entire worlds are covered by single corporations. This means one thing. A man or woman born into such a state can never of their own volition leave it. Even if a brave soul were to try and stand up for themselves they would quickly be silenced by overseers, secret police, or even their own frightened comrades.

An oppressed people are a weak people! They lack the strength in all but the most dire of circumstances to stand up for themselves. It is our job, no, our duty to lash out at the injustices that they cannot! The Navy that this very Committee created is dedicated to be the sword of the people as well as its shield. Where there is no strength we bring deliverance. Where there is no hope, we bring a better tomorrow. Where there is no tomorrow, we bring a future for the ones you love. It is our task to free every single individual that cannot make the choice of self determination because of the interference of their 'betters'.

I come before you today to encourage you to not shy away from bloodshed. We will be called monsters. We will bring death and destruction to our enemies and sew ruin upon their lands. Not because we come as conquerors, steadfast in our resolve to and pillage as those armies of old. No, we come as liberators. Forcefully casting off the chains that bind man down. And those in power, have a love of power. And only we, still small and fledgling now but not forever, have the wherewithal to stand up for what is right.

This war is not limited to the unfortunate territory of our star system. This war is not over as a result of the battle of Khakya 6. This war is a galactic war. One we will wage for decades or centuries. It will cost a terrible toll upon our citizens. But that toll is worth every drop of blood. For at the end, though I will likely never see it, this war will end with peace. An everlasting peace of unity among all men and women. For that dream I will bleed myself dry. All the mistakes, all the delays, all the suffering, and all the pain, do not alter that fact that there are, in this galaxy, all the means necessary to crush our enemies one day. For H.A.L.P. is not alone! Neither is the Confederacy! We are not alone! In every solar system, on every planet, and in every factory there exists a man, woman, or child that yearns for freedom! And they will answer our call!

Can there be any doubt that we can, and are bound to, defeat the Corporate and Imperial Slavers?

The enslaved people of the Milky Way who have fallen under the yoke of Boman Co and similar ilk look to you as their liberators. A great mission has suddenly become yours. Be worthy of this mission! The war you are waging is a war of liberation, a just war.

16 Feb 3305 - The Party signs non-agression pact with RESOLVE opperatives.

Earlier this week the Hastati Astral Liberation Party signed a non-aggression pact with the Mercenary faction RESOLVE that has recently moved into the sector. The fledgling alliance was made over mutual dissagreements with Boman Co and it's sphere of influence. Speaking on behalf of RESOLVE Comander PR0T4G0NIST stated that "We have tried working with Boman Co to resolve our differences, but any and all communication attempts were rebuffed or ignored. We have therefore decided that they are are not worthy of the influence they seem to hold."

With the added assistance of RESOLVE operatives H.A.L.P. has made a push for system wide governance of the Khakya economic zone. Early polling looks favorable and elections are set to end early next week. Should the elections end in the Party's favor we plan on cementing control and looking outward to the Forsina System, where there are more indentured servants and forced workers masquerading as Boman Co employees. The ongoing war against exploitation of the common man shall continue!
