Hatch breaker limpets

It seems that disabling the cargo hatch renders a ship immune to cargo hatch breaker limpets. The explanation is that the limpet is supposed to hack and trigger the hatch to release the cargo content. This makes them useless in PvP since most traders know the trick and disable the cargo hatch.

Now I would love to see the limpets explode and damage a bit the cargo hatch in case the siphon attempt fails. This way, even ships with disabled hatch may release some cargo once enough damage has been done to the hatch.

Just wondering, why did you decide to make like, 6 different threads instead of just making a single thread where you put all these suggestions in a single post?

1) Because nobody likes to read looooong posts.
2) Because I am interested to read what people think about my ideas. Mentioning all ideas in a post might lead to people replying about only one/a few of them.
3) It is mandatory to specify a title for each post. I believe the title must be specific to reflect the content of the post. Can you imagine if all posts in the "Dangerous Suggestions" section would all have for title "My suggestions"? :)

You realize this isn't the bug report forum, right?
Not sure what you mean here...limpets not working against disabled cargo hatch is not a bug but part of the mechanic apparently (the spirit is: you cannot hack a powered off computer...mhh OK but since it impacts the game-play i would prefer to skip this mechanic...)

I just had a NPC Python send me about 10 Hatch Breaker Limpets saying "incoming Missile!". I was attacking him on his six always plus I had no cargo plus my hatch was switched OFF. I do not understand why he wanted to use them on me whilst he was under attack and not me!
However, it would now make complete sense if these Hatch Breaker Limpets were acting as a weapon (the "incoming Missile!" warning) and it would not just break the cargo hatch but suck out your air just as the canopy breach does. Now that is something to need to avoid!

I like it. Never turned off cargo hatch power unless the ship had no cargo space (I'm looking at you, Vulture), but I can see how this would be frustrating for a pirate - I'm terrible at digging cargo with my weapons!

Wow, that's an old thread coming back :)
The real problem with hatch breakers is that they simply do not make any sense (in piracy PvP) if you fly anything bigger than a Cobra.

When you have a 90 millions Python, why would you even care about 1-3 lines of 5-7 canisters each, turn back and painfully collect them? Higher class of hatch breakers increases the amount of limpets can be active in the meantime...but since only one can attach, it's just another broken machanism for anybody who really plays the game.

If the class would dictate the max amount of canisters dropped, that would be another story (like class 1 /3 / 5 / 7 would release 5 / 10 / 20 / 40 canisters). And the canisters should be released in cluster, not in an endless line.
We would also see much more real pirates, keeping their preys alive instead of psychos / griefers who just want to pop their prey out of frustration of the whole broken PvP piracy.

Aw, shucks... I usually try to avoid resurrecting old threads, but this time only saw the last update time :D
