As a non-American the American political landscape is truly alien. It's funny because DB was just talking about this in his 2.4 video. Alien doesn't just mean physically and environmentally, it also means mentally and culturally and nothing demonstrates this more than American politics. I watched the recently cancelled show "Braindead" and assumed the portrayal of American politics was just sharp satire; recently I've discovered that it was just accurate.

In that movie, the establishment media uses fake news to try to take over America. It is such a great movie that everybody should watch and learn from. There is so many analogs to today it is scary.
It is a great movie, and a prophecy of what was about to happen today.

The problem is not the propaganda you can see in the media, It's easy to identify that. The real trouble is what's hidden in plain sight right before your eyes, and affects you without noticing.
The intentionally and unintentionally poisoned dreams, and tales, games. Used up as a propaganda material to slowly change society, or becoming an unintentional source of something incredibly stupid, and even more dangerous.
With great power comes great responsibility.
And there is a lot of power in the media's hands. And they are everything just not responsible, and neither the ones are act responsibly whom can dictate them. Instead of it, they are trying to push their agendas forward.

Thanks for the recommendation. I enjoyed watching it. It does show how long "fake news" has been going. It's a 1941 movie and in it is the line "We've been fed baloney so long we're getting used to it."

One of my favourite movies is "A Face in the Crowd" which obviously references this movie. This what they mean about humour dating. If you weren't around when a movie was made sometimes some of the references made in that movie can fall on deaf ears.
