So playing Elite Dangerous, was making good headway with trading through space systems, finally saved up enough after running and gunning my way to survival to buy a Hauler (cargo) ship which would improve my trading totals and distance.

Buy my hauler, and with the money I have left I decide to invest in some expensive machinery to take across the galaxy a bit. Got to the Space station and was just about to touch down....what do I go and do....hit the boost button and slam straight into the control tower.

4 days work and patiently saving up and spending all my money on this one trip to lose it all in 5 seconds due to one wrong button. #Hauler2k14 I was short but sweet. Back to square 1 I go.... :mad:

anyone else had times like this (I am sure there are a lot of us out there)

Yes, I lost a 3.5 mil Lakon with 2 mil of cargo and went back to a Sidewinder. Got mad, and grinded back into an Anaconda in 5 days (with 2 very long days of endless trucking). So chin up and get back to work Commander :)

This happened to me (in a Cobra though). I posted a very similar message too! I didn't even have the cash to pay the insurance excess so back to a Sidewinder it was for me. Am now almost back in a Hauler... Hard times. I was annoyed at first and for a day or two thought I'd just leave off until the game gets released. But I just couldn't keep away..!

I love hitting boost by accident while in the space stations!

Actually, I went into the Options/Controls, scrolled down to "Flight Landing Overrides" and reassigned my Boost button to Thrust Up.

So now whenever my landing gear are down, any time I accidentally hit boost, I only move up a bit. And that clues me in that I almost screwed up again!

Sidey to Hauler, fully loaded with something, so very little money left, accidentally boost, ship destroyed. could just re-buy Hauler, with 289cr balance. phew, sold, it and bought back a Sidey with 12K cr returned.

close shave.

I am now back in my Hauler, with 60k in the bank. trying to not boost, though I did do that again, slightly after getting the hauler when taking off, but just bounced, didn't lose a single shield this time?

I wasn't able to move past a Sidewinder for the entirety of Premium Beta. Crashes with all my money in the cargo hold, name change, accidental "reset save" and finally, save wipe.

Good idea

Most devastating loss - Shortly before the end of PB2 wipe I smashed into the station in a Lakon Type 9 trying to evade a missile firing pirate. Ship insured, cargo 440 tons of fish lost. Several flights later managed to smash my new Lakon Type 9 into the station only this time I was carrying 440 tons of Performance Enhancers. I had enough to cover the insurance cost on another Type 9 but that would have left me with 500 credits or so for cargo. In the end I decided to go back to a Cobra.

Most recent loss (this afternoon) - smashed into a station flying a Lakon type 6 with 100 tons of Advanced Catalyzers. Fortunately I learned not to invest all of my capital in a single load. While the loss of 200k stung it didn't wipe me out.
