Have FD changed Fuel consumption over the last few days?

I have noticed a route i do daily, that gets me one way with 400t of prisoners, with out a fuel stop has changed today. Now with just 350t of prisoners doing the same route will not get me to my destination on a full fuel tank . Yet if i do the same route with 400 Empire slaves, i can reach the destination.

Is this a bug or have FD changed the fuel consumption on specific cargo?

Is the route exactly the same both ways? another possibility is the order and length of the jumps as full fuel max cargo jump will use more than a half fuel max cargo jump.
I don't think fuel consumption could be changed without a client update, a server side update might change the prices but the last one was over ten days ago so...

But it only occurs with prisoners, if i use any other cargo there is no issue and the problem only occured in the last 27 hours. I do the same route at least three times aday.

To add to this, i did a test with full cargo (400t) changed route 50% through journey and now i can get to the destination with out a stop.!!!!
I agree i doubt FD has changed anything, i am leaning towards the idea that the route planner has an issue on this route, i will just have to adapt and over come.

Then my slaves have a secret tuck box on board, as they seem to be getting fatter, shortening the jump range.

Does your route have significantly more jumps with 400t? Shorter jumps use less fuel, so if there's a lot of short jumps that might do it.

It is often more (fuel) efficient to make several short jumps instead of one large jump.

It sounds like the greater mass of cargo means you are taking a different route to your target (with a higher number of shorter jumps) than the route you take when you have less mass. This is then reducing your overall fuel usage when you carry 400t over 350t.

If you choose the most efficient route in the nav panel instead of shortest, I think you will find you can make the journey with 350t of cargo as well.

I have never seen any change in range or fuel use based on cargo type (I see no reason why FD would implement this either).

The odd thing is i was doing this journey with 400t no issues on Saturday. I sent a bug report in anyway to see what it may be.

On a non related issue, when ever i answer a post i cannot see the post push to the top on "New Posts", this goes to new threads i create, if i create one and click new post, nothing is seen on New post list. Any idea why this is occuring?

I've noticed that the route generation is not consistent - I was doing a trade run between a couple of systems and the planner would often generate different routes.

The fuel used for a jump is not linear with distance, 2 jumps of 50% range will use a lot less fuel than one jump of 100% range, so if one route has 6 jumps of 80% range and another route has 3 of 60% and 3 of 100% the fuel used will be significantly different, the second one will use more fuel.

Try noting the route made, see if it always goes through the same systems.
