Have I missed something with LTD Demand?

So I went mining this morning got back to base checked Innara and EDDB HIP 19934 [Fozard Dock] were still showing 1.5-1.6 a few mins ago for the second day running ok demand still at 7000 I decide to take the Cutter and with 328T I arrive 20 mins later to find 909k is the price offered demand still 7000 so while I normally would sell at that if Id chosen to travel 60ly or so I felt cheated so I checked Innara and EDDB again and headed for 9 Ceti were demand was 9000 and 1.1306 offered and on arrival 703k offered so Im sitting in the hanger and wont move till I get a real price and choose to take it

The price you are looking at is the raw price. What you get offered at the station is the price minus the volume tax. If you had dropped by in a hauler with 10 tons of diamonds, you would of got more /ton for the 10.

Sell your cargo in batches of 100 tons, and watch the price go up.

Hmm, you might be there a long while. I'm no expert but I do know that posted price is often not the actual selling price, this based on the amount you're selling. That very thing happened to me, arriving to find a much lower price than posted. i just moved on to the another station.

Innara and Eddb have both now dropped those two systems and are presenting fresh locations but regarding demand I had understood that with 328T in a 7 0r 9 k demand price shouldnt be an issue

the best price wiith any demand is 980k

Im not waiting here for the price to change Im waiting here till I find a price and demand that can be counted on for 20 mins at least

I sold twice at the Hip station yesterday @1.6m same demand

The high prices only last a couple of days, sometimes only one. You need to get in there quick if you want top dollar. But 1m apiece is still a reasonable return.

I filled my Cutter's hold at the weekend, and was sat on 500t LTD until I saw a station that was selling at top rate. I headed over immediately, and did another mining session last night to ensure I got the price. I'm glad I sold it last night too. :)

I'll be mining again tonight I should think... But fully expect to be parked up for another few days waiting for top price buyers.

It may be that prices change at around an hour ago regularly my point was relating to in 26 mins of flight time the price dropped by 700k but not the demand and then the same in another 25 mins in the second system I can of course go back to near base 65ly and get 930k now just semi annoyed with needless travell

So the price drop had nothing to do with demand, the system had a public holiday state ongoing witch when paired with boom + expansion pushed the price to 1.6b.

After the tick today PH state ended so price dropped back down.

The prices are calculated by

  • system stats like population
  • background simulation (BGS) states
  • demand

In HIP 19934 there were the correct BGS states for the maximum price of 1.6 million/ton.
If you've read system chat in Borann today, it was already predicted what would happen at the tick at 14:00 h ingame time,
namely that the BGS changed states and HIP lost the high prices. Simultaneously no other starport/system got the correct combination
of faction states, so the prices are low.

It's bad luck this happened while you were travelling, but the tick happens every day at 14:00h. (or 13:00?) ingame time.
Next time, time your arrival so that you'll be at the selling port before the tick, to ensure you will have the prices shown at inara.

It will take some time for the prices to show at third party sites, because they only get updated when someone uploads the prices via API/third party tool.

You definitely had the tick in between when the prices were updated and when you arrived. Word of advice: Do not mine if you are going to complete your run just after the tick.

I dont read systems chat unless im winged up

How do players find stations with the best price is it random visits? or is theire a reliable research method?

As an amateur miner I've made nearly 6 billion in a month by largely ignoring the top selling stations and selling at the nearest station offering close to a million. Then returning as fast as I can and repeating. Jump time actually loses you money so just ignore it and keep those Mining lasers working. The rocks dont go away so go back for another load.

Having said that I got 1.6 million for 200 tons at HIP what ever it was earlier today.

Sorry.
