Have some mission failures, dont understand why

ok, so ripping along to Gareth Edwards station in Wyrd with a cargo mission and some beer to top up the cargo - cos it's thirsty work - and the postie knocks the door. Oh goodie, my hockey visor has arrived. So, with no messages on the screen and nothing on radar, knock speed to 0 to save overshooting the target. Literally 2 mins later come back and I see the black screen of death. Bother - however not to worry as post rebuy screen I nip to transaction screens and there's a list of missions still there. Happy days.
However, bottom of the transaction screen I have a few failed missions and none were close to timing out. 1 of the failures was the cargo one (where they gave me the cargo) so expected that, however the others are of the Source X number of Y and deliver to. 1 of which I did have cargo so all I'd need to do is replace the cargo and continue. (I see I have a fine from one station guessing due to the mission failure flag and part of the Ts and Cs fo the mission)

So the question is why would missions be set to fail on destruction when timer hadn't expired?

Sounds like something new that came with 3.0. I haven't tried source missions since 3.0 came out, but before that whenever i lost the ship with the cargo the mission would just reset to not yet complete again.

What would happen if you had several missions to supply, say, 120 t of the same commodity X; then when you get 120 t commodity X all those missions would be marked as complete. So when you deliver that to complete one of those deliveries would the others automatically fail now because you have insufficient stock? I guess I'll try it out later.

The mission description states whether or not destruction fails it, would have to test for a bug by taking one that doesn't say this; then getting blown up again :)

There are more FAIL on Ship Destruction missions than most people realize. The fact that you lost your ship and were then presented with a bunch of failed missions simply indicates that you picked up a number of these without realizing it.

As far as I know, there have been no reported bugs/issues with missions failing for no reason. If you hadn't lost your ship I would be curious if you had uncovered a bug. But since you did loose your ship, there is nothing unusual going on here at all.

Live and learn! And be more careful if you are loading up on missions that fail on ship destruction. :)
