Have they Reintroduced the "Bounty after Single Hit" thing again ??....

Came to the Game checking what had Changed over the time.
Found a Hercules Class Transport Ship.
Went there. But could not really do anything with it.

Then it got Attacked.
And well why not. The Faction is Allied with me. So I Accepted the call and Helped.
(Which felt super Cheese because only after I Accepted Enemies started Spawning around lol...)

Ok. So I begin mowing down Enemies. (Rocky Start using a Battery cause Enemies just Spawned all around me and thus all Ganged up on me...)
After I finished the First Wave another Wave Spawns.
I get to Work again. During that an Enemy Ship Flies across the Hercules Ship. One of my Shots apparently Missed the Enemy Ship and Hit the Hercules Class.

INSTANTLY I get an 800 Credit Bounty for Assault on the Herculess Class Ship and the whole Screen Turns Red with Dots.
Now I went to the Neighboring System and Landed there.

Now Seriously ?

A Single Hit on an ALLIED Ship DURING A SCRIPTED MISSION DESIGNATING IT AS AN ALLY IN COMBAT.
And I get a Bounty ?
You Serious ????

Didnt we have that crab in the past already ? :(

It depends on the damage your shot delivers on the friendly target. If you get a fine it is for careless weapons discharge. Bounty implies the shot was pretty high in damage.

I think the problem was hitting the megaship, it's like hitting a station. It''s not he same as hitting another 'regular' ship.
Yes, it is a bit silly.

What was silly was increasing the tolerance threshold just to placate people with poor trigger discipline.

Sure. Because what's more important when your actually invincible asset is pretending to be in any kind of danger from a handful of ships - tolerating 0% of your infinite shields or hit points being not in the slightest bit affected because of human error, or blowing up the only thinking person within a lightyear who's actually trying to help?

You recently lamented on the fact ED can be so gamey and breaking your immersion sometimes... but now you rely on some aspects of the game that are gamey and immersion breaking (lackluster NPCs, invulnerable stations and megaships) to argue against harsh friendly fire penalties ?

Just saying.
But in Reality if a Fighter Aircraft strafed a Cruiser with its Machineguns while Attacking a Bomber that was attacking that Cruiser. Then the Cruiser would neither put a Bounty on that Fighter Pilot nor Open Fire at him.
So you getting a Bounty because one of your Weapons which wont even Scratch your Allies Armor hit your Ally during an Interception is Gamey as Hell lol.

So dont get me wrong.
But if anything Broke my Immersion it was the message that a Bounty was placed on my Head for Assaulting the Megaship which I was trying to Protect.

Guess I.ll stay away from such Missions then. I do actually like Immersion in Games.
And sitting there waiting for an Invulnearble Megaship to Destroy the Fighters Attacking it because I cant attack em due to a Single Stray Hit on my Allied Megaship setting it to Hostile with me. Is not exactly Immersive...

I find the friendly fire mistakes terrible for immersion breaking. It should be relatively simple to know if a ship is attacking a mutual enemy, or hostile. A simple counter and cool down mechanism should handle station hits, with a warning from ATC.

It's very different from ship to ship, as even if megaships/stations weren't invincible, they'd be effectively that against a lone ship.

I had this happen to me in a CZ when I accidentally shot a Farragut. Everything then came after me so I had to wake out. I would be in favour of a warning for a first offence.

However

When I went over this as I was about to re-enter the CZ, I considered how this happened and decided it was probably something to do with the fact that I was firing whilst facing the Farragut. Everything was fine when I was a bit more careful with where I was pointing. You should be allowed more leeway than a couple of multicannon rounds though. Same rules as if you hit another ship would be more sensible.

Oh here we go. The same old piffle. There's always a few of these response on topics such as this. Thankfully, FDev have clearly realised this kind of attitude is best ignored. Anyone can make a mistake. Getting a bounty for an accident is obviously silly. Perhaps they need to review the zero tolerance on loose fire against a transport ship if there's going to be combat going on around it.

And replies like the above can be filed under the 'pat on the head and say suuuure' category.

The pilot of that fighter might not get a bounty but could well be facing a court martial depending on damage done and proof that it was his guns doing the damage and not the bombers, and I wouldn't bet on some of the minor armament shooting back, people being shot at rarely think that it is friendly.

If that's the case, that's an idiotic way to differentiate between accidents and purposeful crimes.

Especially when it's a shield impact. "Hey, you accidentally removed a small fraction of my infinitely replenishable shield power while you were rescuing me from pirates. Police, please kill on sight this person who has been of absolutely no material detriment to me."

But that's the world of Elite. You should see what they do to you for late library returns.

Loitering is punishable by death. (Unless you're an NPC)

A system authority vessel flying directly into my line of fire, between myself and an enemy target I have already engaged, has nothing to do with "trigger discipline". It has to do with NPCs having no situational awareness and flying directly into your fire.

Try walking downrange when someone is shooting at a target and then tell them that they won't have any chance of shooting you as long as they have adequate "trigger discipline". See what happens. I'll bring popcorn.
