Same Problem here. Started a week or more ago. I have an Epic account for my Exploration and it shuts down as it's supposed to. I could be a Steam problem. I don't know.

Same here, never had this (or at least never enough so i would bother noticing).
After upgrading to odyssey and waiting for a few patch, (didn't start to play it right away because .... well ... cauz ! you know ! potential bugs and weirdness of new mechanics and stuff !), it started happening all the time, 100% of the time i have to kill the process.
Even though the game itself plays flawlessly for me, maybe except a few fps drops when on foot ...

On and off, for me it seems to be no pattern...random thing. I used to experience it more frequent before odessey but i did buy a new comp after EDO because my old comp did not even have the HD space for EDO so i upgraded my hardware for EDO.
This has happened to 2 times as well OP each time I had msi afterburner watching my temps not sure if its related but hasn't happened since
My EDH on wine/linux crashes every*single*time on exit with an unhandled page fault. Obviously no black screen, but possibly the same bug. Might be easier to debug there.
I had to do it occasionally for as long as I can remember but it's been absolutely every single time since odyssey update 4 dropped.
reliably happened for me, but now I have learned if you first exit to main menu, then quit to desktop, it should shut down properly.
Yes. Same Here. Otherwise it continues to memory sink.
I start the main game on Steam. When I take the step via the main menu and then quit the game, the black screen gets stuck less often. Frontier should fix that.
Interesting, i am also using msi afterburner, although only for managing cpu fan speed (keep quiet you GPU !!).
Things are even worse now, after the recent patch : not only graphics are weird and lighting makes cockpits and stations looks like plastic, but ED:O must be shutdown by the task manager and still says it's running ! If i launch the game back from steam after killing the process steam says app is running but with no other process visible in the task manager !
I tried to use the game both as borderless window and fullscreen, with different framerate / fps settings etc but it still won't close, and then it won't even start again if i don't close steam itself ...
